Sonya Alone (Starchild Version)

Hello everyone! This is my submission for the #CometCoverContest, where fans of The Great Comet were asked to cover either Sonya Alone or the Prologue in whatever creative way they wanted.

I chose Sonya Alone, but decided that instead of just covering the song I would mash it up with a song from another musical by Dave Malloy - Hero from Ghost Quartet. The two songs shared a lot of similarities, and are both originally sung by the incomparable Brittain Ashford, so it just made sense in my head. They both deal with deciding to take action - in the end, Sonya does and Rose doesn't, and I found that internal conflict very interesting.

If I win this contest I get to go to NYC and see Dave Malloy's final show as Pierre, and perform my cover following the show! So if you could go to YouTube and watch, like, or comment on the video it would mean a lot to me. I'm just happy this contest gave me an excuse to work on a creative project like this... but to win would be amazing, and would literally change my life. Like I think I would actually die of happiness if I got to see Dave as Pierre.

Hey, everyone! I entered in the #CometCoverContest because I’d REAALLLLYYY love to take my sister to experience such a groundbreaking and innovative show. Also, I just wanted a reason to cover Sonya Alone because it’s such a hauntingly beautiful song. I’d love for more people to view it because it’s my first official cover posted!!
