After reading The Flash (2016) #769, I want to say that I loved Gold Beetle and I think she’s an awesome character. I’m already a fan! The only thing that it kind of made me feel a bit sad, is that again, superheroes are being a bit of an ass.
I understand that superheroes are meant to make you feel good, see a bright side of “humanity”, make you want to be a better person and in some stories, you can even relate to them. But I also feel kind of bad and annoyed that they also get to be JUST like anybody else, and the moment they don’t like someone, they team up to be the bullies in school.
As you can see, Barry realizes that she is part of Booster Gold and Blue Beetle, and he’s like uh, maybe you should get away from her, Wally. Which it frankly sucks. More so when it comes from such a nice, kind dork like Barry- and here this is just an echo of how G&B used to be treated, like jokes.
Most heroes didn’t care how Michael felt or how desperate he had to be to get money in “not ethical hero ways”, nor care how smart and intelligent Ted was, nor how suspicious he was about what was happening with the case that ended up killing him.
And it makes me bad, because if my heroes are asshole to other “minor” heroes... I don’t feel like having them as my heroes anymore. :/
I really, really hope that none of these “big heroes” ever dare to treat Gold Beetle like that. If they dare to repeat their ugly behavior to her, I’m gonna get mad because this is awful. This is bullying. They are not being empathetic, and instead, they prefer to isolate someone they don’t like. Don’t you dare to be an ass to Booster & Beetle’s love child or dgdwiufhwihfewhjkef!!!!
