Page of process from initial layouts working up to an ink solution for a Minnie Mouse panel - gotta focus better on inkblot shapes for the body (silhouette value) rather than drawing with line... also some Mickey panel outtakes that needed further pushing (while the Beatles keep me company in the background) ✏️🎼
Taking another crack at reworking a layout pose to get Mick looking bored waiting for the photograph to be over while at the World's Fair (cuz it took so long to capture a photograph back then, people in pictures couldn’t hold a smile for long enough). Gonna be a combination of one from here & the inked pose from last week.
Still working to make the process of going from ruffs to inks less stressful by tightening up my col-erase ruffs with a mechanical pencil. Using some magnifying glasses to be more sensitive to detail & ink application...
Reworking a layout pose to get Mick looking bored waiting for the photograph to be over while at the World's Fair (cuz it took so long to capture a photograph back then, people in pictures couldn’t hold a smile for long enough). Notes are to keep it blank & disinterested... almost mannequin-like or "anti-expression". Can feel it taking energy out of the ruffs... inking is hard 😿
Color and shading make such a change to the mood of a panel.
