Bad news - I just learned a bit about myself. Informed by gangstanancysinatra.tumblr.com. I appreciate the blunt honesty, this sort of thing is good to know about oneself if one happens to be oblivious to it.
See HERE for the referenced post.
This only targets those who argue for abortions based on a hypothetical future of non-stable foster homes and overcrowded orphanages ... as if anyone can know anything for certain other than are we making the choice right now that will enable it to have a future, or are we making a choice to end a human life?
A call to terminate the senile old people who have no prospect of a future, who don't contribute anything to society, who're only a drain on society and their own children, and especially those with Alzheimer's, Dementia, those in a coma, or anything where they're basically not sentient and aware anymore. Of course I'm not a monster, let's be sure to use anesthetics, because killing a human is OK ... so long as they don't feel pain (at least that's an argument I've heard somewhere before).
When it's OK to kill humans: 1. Not aware that they're being killed 2. Can't feel pain 3. They're living at someone else's expense
Of course a fetus and an old, comatose person aren't the same. It's an analogy pulling forth common reasons given for the acceptability of killing human lives. What makes it especially OK to kill fetuses is that they depend solely on only ONE person, where as an old, comatose person can be taken care of by SEVERAL people. Therein lies the reason that escaped me previously, how foolish of me. That makes so much sense too.
2013 In Review - After putting up a handful of graphics illustrating the pro-choice & pro-life stance, this has to be the most prolific (pun intended). Why not? It does illustrate that a fetus doesn't feel pain before maybe about 20 weeks or more, it can't sustain its own life until about 21 weeks, brain activity is measurable at about 12 weeks, it's recognizable as a human by 8 weeks, it can't talk until about 1 year, it can't raid the fridge on its own until about 2 years ... really just a lot of stages of development of a human life (ahem, parasite) that can legally be torn limb from limb up until the 22-24 week stage, depending on location.
I felt the need to clarify this comic a bit. Apparently I was a bit mistaken with my previous comic. thepellucidpanda.tumblr.com informed me that ... well ... it would be easier if I just quote directly.
"A fetus had “parasitic qualities" - they are not literally a parasite- unless the mother* doesn’t want it. Then it’s not a “baby". It’s a “baby" if it is wanted...It’s a matter of situations, dumbass.
This isn’t saying that every fetus is a parasite- that dehumanized the fetus." (thepellucidpanda.tumblr.com).
So apparently as long as the woman wants to keep it, you can't refer to its parasitic qualities. That's just not PC and it definitely dehumanizes the fetus (baby-to-be). HOWEVER, so long as the woman does want to dispose of this parasitic clump of cells, it's then completely acceptable to use this negative connotation (though it's still dehumanizing) because it defers to the woman's bodily autonomy. After all, if you think about it, it does make sense - I should be able to choose to keep any random de-humanized parasite in my body if I want to ... or dispose of it ... it is a parasite, after all, or so some claim.
A simple text illustration describing pro-life vs pro-choice
Right. Riight. Except for the life of the pregnant person. Or the life of the children they might already have thinly spread resources to care for. Or the life of the fetus you save after it's born and its rights to be fed, clothed, housed, and schooled. Or the rights of that fetus should it later turn out to be queer or disabled.
Just in case you missed the memo, pregnant people also have heartbeats. We people who can get pregnant are people too. Fully developed people with rights. I mean, even corpses have more bodily autonomy than we do in this society. You need consent to legally harvest organs from a corpse. You don't, apparently, need to consent to having all your organs used for about ten months at a time.

Justify it as you wish, saying it’s “just a clump of cells", a “parasite". However, it’s hard to deny that the embryo or fetus is indeed a human life, just less developed, less mature, and fighting to grow and live. It is both an independent entity from the mother with a life & brain of its own … and yet at the same time it does need the mother to live. It didn’t invade the mother like some parasite seeking a host, but it came to life inside the mother. While it came to life inside the mother, should the mother really be able to own this human life - to kill & dispose of it as she wills? Obviously, our society answers that with a “yes".
Oh my god, did you actually put this into my submission box?
It's not about whether it's "just a clump of cells" or not. I don't care if it's a fully developed adult in there--nothing has the right to use someone's body without their consent. If it's in my body, if it depends wholly on my body to survive, it's not independent from my body.
And just, wow. The nerve of you to put this filth into my submission box. Hang on, followers, there's actually more to come from this guy.
