Oh man -- I'm the anon who's written into you sometimes about being in the comics industry and let me tell you, it's insane to see your blog intersect with the GFM shit. She's a massive asshole (and, I'm happy to report, very widely, if quietly, disliked)-- something like this was inevitable. But she has such particularly huge rage for afab people (she is a *legendary* rape apologist) and Jews, and as a Jewish women, it is ..... something to see how none of that mattered. Plenty of people in the scene are spreading fucking blood libel still and nobody cares. Like I've sent into you before, I've been feeling suffocated for two years now. It's awful. She's awful. No one cares.
In terms of how it happened, though -- DC editors have some degree of latitude over bringing in interesting new talent on smaller books. Arianna Turturro is also an edgelord tankie up-against-the-wall (but please don't ask if I've ever read a book on Marxism) LARPer. I'd bet money she hired her, as she's ed on the book, and thought she could just get away with it because it's not a marquee title. Also, GFM has some buzz for her (deeply boring) books, which could have cut some ice. Notably, I've been out of the big 2 for a while, but I used to be friends with a couple people who held DC editorships. It takes work -- YEARS of being in the industry. I've never fucking heard of Turturro in comics anywhere else. So she's a talentless nepo baby (because yeah, her dad is THAT Turturro) gentile enjoying a job entirely built by Jewish genius handing plum gigs to shock jock demi-nazis who think getting into online fights with ASOIAF shippers (not rhetorical; I saw this happen) is leftist activism.
