Vous savez ce qui est vraiment frustrant quand on est fan de comics en France ? La majorité du temps on manque d'information sur les nouvelles sorties, résultat on apprend qu'une nouvelle série a été lancée sur une de nos équipes préférés il y a quelques mois et pire que tout qu'un de nos personnages favoris y est mort et ça, ça nous fout une sacrée claque

Non sérieusement, je n'arrive pas à croire que Marvel à tué Viv, j'espère vraiment qu'elle reviendra à la fin de la série...

Parfois il est difficile d'être fan de comics lorsqu'on est jeune et français.e.s parce qu'il faut parfois remonter l'histoire d'un personnage sur des numéros parus avant notre naissance plus édité et surtout parce qu'on est tributaire (si on veut les acheter et les lire en français) de ce que le distributeur décidera de publier et traduire ou non ce qui peut prendre plusieurs mois où on a bien le temps de se faire spoiler voir ne jamais arriver pour certaines séries

Dear haters ...

Hi folks. Lately with the "Reddit attack plan" against Olicity, the madness of a part of this "fandom" ( I don't consider this people as fans ) reach a new level , so I decide to take time to write a little something,to express my opinion that actually rarely do.

Until the end of season 4 I didn't really engage with others fans, I was just looking for new informations about the show, nothing more. But at some point my "affection" for the show push me to try to connect with others fans, and I was particulary shock by the hate and " violence" that I witness, especially after a certain epsiode of the season 4 ... At 30 years old, I realize how naive I was, because I didn't (and somehow still do) imagine that you could consider yourself as a fan of a show and be capable to hate so much what you pretend to love. When something stop to please me in a show, I just stop watching it, I don't see the point to still watch it just to spread my hate on social networks.

And after to many comments of haters, specifically the Olicity haters, a minority (despite what they could think) but vocally part of the fandom, who easily blame what they don't like as the reason of all the problems in the show, particualry the drop of the ratings, I think it's time to stop a moment, and try to be adult folks,  try to know what really were wrong in the show, to heard others opinions, not just the sound of your own voice.

Just to precise something before, you could call me an Olicity fan or shipper if you want, just to try to diminish my opinion (that would just make YOU look ridiculous) and try to say that I am not objective, but what I am is FAN OF THE SHOW. And like it or not Olicity is a part of the show, Olicity is the ship of the show, (so after 5 seasons, it would be time to make your peace with that or change of show) and I love every apsect of the show, every characters, or I would stop watching it.

Some of you know that I am a drawer, and for this reason I make conventions and others events, that make me meet a lot of people. I am glad to say that ARROW is one of the show that people recognize the most (despite a bad broadcasting in France), and the audience of the show that I met, are as much women than men, and goes to 15 years old to 75 years old, that is a great souce of pride to see such a large and diversified audience.

And because of the craziness in the fandom, I always looked for their opinion, never share mine, just listen to them. There are 3 points that always come back as reasons people like less the show or stop watching it :

- too predictible ARROW season is always built the same way, and particulary end the same way, someone try, for whatever the reasons, to destroy the city, and after some adventures, Team Arrow saved the day. The season 4 was particulary too much : a secret group tring to destroy the WORLS with NUCLEAR bombs ? Really, really, too much, and some people found that just ridiculous.

- too many stories Season 4 had too many parallel stories ( Sara(s resurrection, Ray becoming the ATOM, Thea's blood lust, diggle and his bother, Felicity paralize, Donna and Quentin ...), many good ones, but most of them never be properly develop, and at the end it just confuse the main one and loose people in the precess.

- too comics style And yes, dear comics fans, I met A LOT of people watching the show, people who don't know anything about comics culture ( most of the audience of the show), who stop appreciate the show when it became too comics ( magic, aliens ...). What was the DNA of the show, its style during the first seasons, was the "realistic" aspect of the show. The show never hide to be inspired by THE DARK RISES trilogy, that try to present in the most realistic way, how a regular guy become a vigilante and then a hero, in a normal world, a univers that we could identify. But most time pass, most things become "fantastic", season 3 already introduce in a small way the comics style, but the season 4 was so "magic", becoming hard to be credible with a team of "normal" people to succes at the end. And I think it’s the major reason why rating drop in season 4, this season marked a change in the style of the show, some people didn’t recnognize the show they loved at the begining and didn’t apreciate the evolution of the show.

So I am maybe not objectif, so all the people that I met aren't too, because NOT ONE, never point Olicity as the reason they stop watching/liking the show ...

Why ? Because regular audience, non comics fanactif audience, watch the show for what it is,  with non preconceived opinion. They didn't know who was the GREEN ARROW before the show, don't know his mythology, and have an open mind opinion for what storie the show could tell. Because people watching a TV Show (partuclary a CW one) know that "romance" and its "drama" is part of every show, that we like or not, almost 80% of the TV Shows use the same storyline (drama, broke up, wedding ...), so rare are the person who are surprise or shock (to the point to stop the show) when something like that happen in ARROW too.

What about Laurel death ? I understand that some people stop watching the show because of it (even I am sorry tobsay that it's kinf of childlish for me), but I seriously doubt that the drop of the rating is due to the death of one character. Why? For the same reason previously said : most of the audience aren't comics fan, and don't know anything about the" iconic" aspect of some characters, and don't make any characters as sacred. When you watch Arrow since the begining of the show, you know that always characters are liable to die any moment, and Laurel death is just one of the many tragic death in ARROW, shocking but part of the reason we keep watching the show.
