The Joker #01 (2000)
Okay so I just...I can't. I gotta revisit these panels AGAIN I'm sorry lmao HE IS NOT TALKING TO SELINA in the panels in which he is talking to Selina. These are the things he CANNOT say to the Joker and is actually a continuation of THEIR conversation; he's literally telling the Joker he can't let anyone hurt him, but he can't say that. He can't tell the Joker that even though the Joker has infuriated him; and ofc he doesn't let him out there to die. This is literally a Joker conversation with Selina that he wants to have instead with Joker. "You're too nice to kill me." "You're so nice Bruce Wayne." And again, note the orange clothing through-line. Clown in his head, Cat in his bed. Edit: Also note the positioning of both characters. Joker is in very similar, mirrored visual positioning to Selina!!
Okay so we have GOT to talk about Joker: Year of the Villain because John Carpenter gets it. Basic premise is this: Joker sees a cute blond henchman, henchman is sort of a mixed up probs bisexual puppy but seems kinda into J-man, enough to let him drag him around the city causing total mayhem because Joker is "the only thing that makes sense to him". We get this line:
Condiment king shows up, Joker doesn't kill him but then this happens (excuse me, that is uhm...very close??)
J knows a cutie when he sees one. DIRECTLY after this, the costume purchase occurs:
The kink is about to begin!
Joker buys them both Batman and Robin costumes and uhm. Well. Six tells him like, kind of his life story earlier in the comic. Six is realizing that J is probably truly crazy when he kidnaps his mom! AND THEN WE GET THIS, FRIENDS:
HELLO??? EXCUSE ME???????? John Carpenter 100000% going for that kinky batjokes shit, everyone say thank you John Carpenter! Anyway J doesn't like that hesitation! The boy doesn't keep throttling him, which is a mistake (should have kept at it, Six!) - J clearly has sort of a thing for him, referring to their whirlwind partnership as "a fling" - so he gets the ole Jason Todd treatment (but lives):
My guy literally said "hey if you're mad enough become Batman and fucking ring me up okay cute stuff" Like my guy spends the earlier parts of this comic being like "I can't fucking get Batman's attention. What the hell! HEY this henchmen is pretty cute though..."
They're FLIIIIIRTTINNNG (right in front of Jason too, dang)
What do you think the Joker smells like? (We know Batman knows his smell, and vice versa...)
