the heartbreak of this book for me lies in the fact that it's very form seems to prove the pointlessness of Jude's suffering. What he goes through as a character isn't meant to illustrate some long hidden truth, it's not meant to discuss the topic of trauma, there's no composition beyond the basics, no symmetry. It just is, a record of enormous suffering.
I didn't expect answers and ready truths from this, but even a question, something that necessitates the existence of this book, would have made me feel better.
this is definitely the best book that I will never recommend to anyone.
