FHDJHDHDNSNS I NEED THIS SO BAD 💔
You are valid nonhumans who don’t use gear, who don’t dress alternative or come across as “normal”
You are valid nonhumans who didn’t show many signs or any before they found out
You are valid nohumans who have humanoid theriotyoes or connections to humanity
You are valid if you do or don’t experience shifts
You are valid if you have mental illnesses, any mental illness, not just the “acceptable” ones
You are valid if you keep your identity secret and valid if you don’t
Valid if you have obscure theriotyoes or common ones
Valid if you’re a system.
Valid if you’re kin types originate from fiction
Valid if you have many types or only few
Valid if you use labels or you don’t
You should not have to fight and justify yourself in your own community. You are valid
It's not inherently harmful to want to have unconventional or non-human body parts. Your body is your own, do what you like with it.
"New year, new me" hits different when you're alterhuman and questioning a label.
Do the Dark Elves have maternity leave? What about dental? At least tell me they have a good 401K!?
Both Santa's elves and Krampus' dark elves are part of the same union, run by the head elf Pieter. This is what some of the dark elves look like!
However, not all of his little helpers are elves. The toyfolk and confectionery kin who dwell in his workshop are not part of the union.
Oh I feel kind of scared asking this, but I was curious to hear your opinion.
When it comes to fae legends, are there any depictions with bugs to them? What are the most common ones? And can they be like any other bug?
Fantastic question. You've managed to discover on of the few areas of Faerie Folklore that I deeply dislike. Therefore, this answer's probably going to be shorter than you'd like. Yes, there are plenty of connections to bugs and insects in Faerie Folklore. A good example to start out with might be the ladybug. In Irish Folklore they are considered to be associated with luck and blessings. One tale depicts a farmer whose crops are failing due to pests. When a swarm of ladybugs arrive to clear out the pests and save the crops, the farmer believes that they are a gift from the Faeries who have come to bring blessings to his land. Another Irish legend suggests that a ladybug landing upon you heralds great luck and that your wishes shall be granted, with the number of spots on the ladybug's back thought to indicate how many months your good luck will endure. But often across Europe you will find that pests that destroy or ruin crops are often attributed to the Faeries as well, usually when they are angry and have decided to punish the humans involved for one offense or another. The Victorian Era in particular strengthened the connection between the Faeries and bugs of all sorts. Mayflies, butterflies, moths, bees, and so many more. The Faeries themselves were often reduced to small enough sizes to dwell in and among flowers, flit about on insect wings, and otherwise engage with the world from the perspective reserved only for the very small. Butterflies had long held associations with the souls of the dead, and moths were often harbingers of death or misfortune. And on occasion some beliefs held that they were faeries in disguise. In Celtic folklore bees were thought to hold great wisdom and were even considered the spirit messengers between worlds. Even in other traditions of ancient European folklore the bees were still seen as messengers to the gods and carriers of blessings. Honey itself was considered to be a magical substance and was used in all kinds of rituals and was often thought to have immense curative properties (funnily enough, it really did turn out to have some rather potent anti-inflammatory properties among other benefits), as well as the ability to prompt prophetic visions. So when the Victorians drew closer the connection between faeries and bees there was a lot to draw from already. Even if there's not a direct story or bit of folklore that ties the two together, you can already see some parallels between various kinds of bugs and ideas about Faeries. Think of how locust swarms must have appeared to ancient peoples, dark clouds of terror and destruction on the horizon, possibly the work of some angry supernatural force. Or how the structure of honeybee hives mirrors that of faerie courts ruled over by their powerful queens. There are so many instances of bugs and insects that intersect with Faerie Folklore, but also so much non-faerie folklore that involves bugs and insects as well. It's quite the rich area of study, and I encourage those interested to dig more deeply into the mountains of scholarly research concerned with this very subject.

inspired by @fictionkinfessions, a confessional box for all alterhumans to talk about their experiences!
i made this blog with the expectation of more fiction/fact/conceptfolk, but any otherhumans or questioning alterhumans are allowed to submit.
otherhuman: an alterhuman who isn't explicitly nonhuman, such as fictionfolk or factfolk. not limited to this.
as long as you don't consider yourself an orthohuman, this confessional is for you!
this blog is meant to be safe/accepting of all forms of alterhumanity, including:
otherlink, otherheart, LFF etc
factfolks, regardless of if it's someone you personally know or a well-known figure
fictionfolks, regardless of what your source is or how "problematic" you/your source is considered
conceptfolks
divinefolks, angelfolks, demonfolks, mythicfolks, etc
littles of any altertype, no you don't need to be supervised here or whatever, we don't know you or your needs so thats for you and your collective/caretaker(s) to decide
alterhumanity caused or affected by delusion/psychosis/mental disorders
physical alterhumans
alterhumans who are different from their source/canon if applicable
anyone with exomemories/exotrauma that affects them and that they treat as real as their orthomemories/orthotrauma
those who are still questioning if they are alterhuman.
alterhumans who are plural and are endo/willo/anything other than traumagenic, are plural without a CDD, are polymind, etc (felt the need to add this one since the first alterhuman confessional blog we found here was explicitly anti endo and anti plurality that didn't come from DID or P-DID-- which is wild because there are other medically recognized CDDs that cause plurality so like ???)
rules for submission:
signoffs are allowed, asking for a specific tag is allowed
specify the kind of alterhuman you are if you want it tagged for that. for example if you are a fictive, say that or it'll just be tagged as fictionfolk.
this is not a place to ask for ways to meet other alterhumans/sourcemates/etc. if you meet in the replies or whatever that's fine, but don't send asks like "looking for sourcemates from xyz!" or anything like that
although we don't think it's wrong to not want doubles interacting with you, we aren't enforcing or tagging any doubles dni boundary. it's a confessional, if doubles relate to your post and reblog it, they have all the right to.
we don't mind spoiler tags or whatnot, just tell us what to tag
when asking a question, clarify if you want me to answer or if you just want it posted without commentary. if you dont clarify I will assume silence.
you can also send any questions you may have for me through the ask box, they'll just be tagged as not a confessional
more will be added as it goes on.
