Week 4 post
I am a huge music listener as I am sure everyone else in class is. Yet, before having my all time favorite music app, Spotify, the ways that I had in order to listen to music was either by the radio, burning cds with music from limewire, or recording music on a cassette tape (my god this makes me sound old AF). I know that almost everyone had to do this so they can have unlimited music playing and then later on we had the all-so-marvelous MP3 and IPod. But if you were like me, you were either too poor to buy one or had strict parents that wouldn’t buy it for you.
I had to work with my old century caveman technology in order to listen to the same song over and over again in the car. Compared to back then having spotify or any other music app is like a blessing. Not only are people open to a variety of music that they wouldn’t have been able to listen to on the radio, but they can listen to the same song as many times as they want. Of course, that is only possible if you have a premium membership with the app which I see as a downside to our current technology. Before, if I wanted to listen to Taylor Swift’s new song over and over again all I had to do is go back on the track (on a CD of course), but now in order to do that I have to purchase a premium plan so I can have unlimited skips, no ads, and go back on songs.
New technology based apps and websites are great, but it is only great if you have some dollars to spare to have that great quality service that everyone wants. Still I like Spotify even if the ads and my limited skips irritate me to no end.
