Here’s the thing. There was supposed to be a Starfleet Academy movie back in the 90’s by Harve Bennet, but Paramount executives killed it, at least in part because Gene convinced a lot of people that Bennet was planning a Police Academy-style gross out comedy.

So it’s killing me that a recurring character is a literal Commandant Lassard, and they threw a fart joke into the latest episode.

Police Academy Star passes away

George Gaynes, best known for his roles as Commandant Lassard on “Police Academy” and as a foster parent on “Punky Brewster” has passed away.

Gaynes passed away at his daughter’s house in Washington on Monday. He was 98 years old.

Gaynes appeared on hundreds of episodes of sitcoms and TV dramas. He also did work on the big screen, appearing in films like “Tootsie” with Dustin Hoffman in 1982. The…
