People joyously headcanon about how Jean would totally be the badass commander of the Survey Corps at one point or another, but I just know how Jean would really be in that position:

"All right, so now that we're back from the last expedition, I have something to say. There's good news, and there's bad news. The bad news is, my entire squad died and I barely missed having my arm bitten off, and about 75 % of our new recruits became titan chow. But the good news is that next year, we'll have plenty of spots open for anyone who wants to join the corps. So if you're interested in this career, enlist in the military, kids! Or don't, I can't really blame you if you value your life...... or limbs."

Headcanon: In their positions of Commander and Corporal, Jean and Mikasa have a habit of playing games of chess while having their usual private meetings. And the usage of the word 'private' means that they add a rule that one must remove one piece of clothing for every chess piece taken out. Lets just say that Jean needs to work on his strategy skills...

If Jean and Mikasa got married in the future canon-verse, they'd probably get married in the middle of an expedition

Sasha: *notices flare shooting up in the distance* Connie! Can you hurry up already?

Connie: Do you, Commander Jean Kirschstein, take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife?

Jean: I do. *shoots flare in the air as a reply to the initial one*

Connie: And do you, Lance Corporal Mikasa Ackerman, take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband?

Mikasa: I do.

Armin: Is it really necessary to say her entire title?

Connie: Shhh! Let me finish! Anyway, by the power invested in me by the inner walls, I now pronounce you- *hears titan growling in the distance*

Eren: JUST KISS FOR GOD'S SAKE SO WE CAN GET OUT OF HERE!!!!!
