Jiang YueLou staring at the betrayal of his father figure, meeting the eyes of Commander Bai as he confronts him and breaks his own heart.

Tears run down his cheeks, pain in his eyes, pain in his heart, knowing that this man betrayed him, knowing that this man betray Chen YuZhi and betrayed everything that has ever mattered to him.

And then the memories of a family, of being part of a family, memories of trust earned and trust repaid and love and learning and life...

All betrayed. All gone. All lost longer ago than he realized.

Jiang YueLou stare at the past and realizes that he can't bring it into the future, can't hang onto it any longer.

How long ago did Commander Bai's love for his wife die? How long ago did Commander Bai realize his priorities were changing? How long ago did Commander Bai forget what mattered most?

Jiang YueLou will never understand anyone choosing their own life over a loved one's life. Never. And that is why he will stay at Chen YuZhi's side rather than Commander Bai's.

Commander Bai is my least favorite character of all time. I mean, he literally betrays his wife, his adopted son and the police department just for a chance at life that he has to know won't last. He's working with someone who kills without hesitation and with barely a reason.

... Like, seriously. His absolute willingness to betray everyone around him, regardless of their importance to him, is painful to see. Ugh, these episodes are just absolutely breaking my heart. Jiang YueLou still trusts him, still sees him as he always has in his eyes.

But we know better.

And my hearts just breaks for him. JYL has lost both his subordinates, almost lost Chen YuZhi and now is going to have to learn that he was betrayed by the first, and for a long time only, person he trusted?

Ugh.

Thank goodness the end of this show has been re-edited so I can pretend there is joy at the end.

March 2, 2025 - Oddly Specific Observation:

The same day as the last doodle, I suddenly had those orange-skinned, green-eyed creatures from Eddsworld on my mind... for some reason.

This was also drawn as a reminder to myself, "If you're gonna disguise yourself as a specific species in order to visit their ship, please try to resemble them as accurately as possible."

By the way, if Commander Bai ever shows up in Beyond, who do you think should voice him?

Obviously it can't be the original guy for... obviously obvious reasons that are obvious.

I would say 'myself', but my voice is very dry at the moment, so probably not.
