I don’t think she has any respect for what we’re doing here.  Just sits and glares all the time.  But she’s… big.  I doubt we’ll be having any more trouble with the Crystal Clods once she takes care of things.

20. Corin x leti

His voice was a tired whisper. “You came back.”

Leti wasn’t sure at first if she was going to return. She was worried, worried that his arms would become another prison, that she would lose the freedom she had won through blood and sacrifice. So she had pushed away.

But Corrin didn’t fight her when she did leave. “I’ll miss you.” He had said when she tried to sneak away in the middle of the night, many days ago. But he didn’t stop her. He never did, when she had her moments of uncertainty.

“Yeah.” She murmured, sliding herself under the sheets next to him. It was his understanding of her boundaries, of her slowly gained trust, that brought her back. Her arms snaked around his waist. “Yeah.”

It wasn’t like human blood at all.

It was thick and dark and purple.

And it didn’t flow from the gash across their chest, it oozed.

“Well.” Dia muttered, large hand gliding against their own skin to inspect the wound. “This is unpleasant.”

The mage gawked. “Unpleasant?” Leti looked even closer at the ugly gash that marred her companion’s flesh. “If that was done to me...” She couldn’t finish the sentence as she shuddered at the thought. She’d have been cut in half. Thanks to this demon, that wasn’t her.

But it so easily could have been.

“I think I’m going to be sick.” Those bushes were looking very tempting right now.

“Gross. Don’t do that.” Dia inhaled sharply as they touched their chest. “’Sides, we ain’t got the time.” Without waiting for permission, the demon reached out and lifted the mage to tuck her under one of their arms.

Leti squeaked. “No, put me down, you’ll hurt yourself!”

A snort passed through their nose. “Too fuckin’ late. Now shut up and lets go.” As quickly as they could, they carried the human -- and themselves -- farther and farther away from the circle.

The scenery that passed by her was of no interest to Leti. She couldn’t stop looking at this blood, this thing so unlike hers that she swears it couldn’t actually be blood. Could it?

She had been taught that demons turned to dust when they died, so why would they bleed?

And, more importantly, why did Dia bleed for her?
