Beautiful Blue Tit which I was transfixed by for a few minutes after work this evening, view out the back including birch trees this afternoon, a view including a flooded area at Lakeside Country Park and autumn views out the front on a soggy lunch time walk today 20/10/2025 and common bonnet mushrooms at Blashford Lakes on Saturday.

Enchanting views of Mallard and Great Crested Grebes in all their elegance in the rain with Mallards on the water and flying and Great Crested Grebes entering their more drab non-breeding plumage at Lakeside, Magpie, red clover and white deadnettle were other highlights today. Rainy walks can bring tranquillity.

Common Bonnet - Mycena galericulata 

Widespread and common across much of mainland Europe and North America, Mycena galericulata (Mycenaceae) is larger than most of the other tuft-forming bonnet mushrooms that are found on stumps. This species shows a distinct preference for well-decayed moss-covered stumps and fallen trunks of deciduous broadleaf trees. Only very occasionally is this bonnet mushroom found on conifer stumps and fallen trunks.
