I was at the supermarket today with my mom. Now, normally, I hate going food shopping, especially with my parents because it takes five ever; however, I was okay with going along with her today because we were having a nice girl's day out and were in high spirits.
So we pull into the parking lot and park the car in a spot in the back. Something I love about my mom is that she's a very cautious driver; she doesn't match the stereotypes of a female driver (I do, though ;D), so imagine my shock when she opens the door and we both hear, "What the f*ck is wrong with you, lady?"
Looking out my mother's open door, we see a man walk past and start yelling at my mom, saying she shouldn't have "stopped in the middle of the lot". We had no idea what he was talking about, and we were stunned into silence by his language. He called her, and I quote, a "f*cking stupid bitch" and started letting f-bombs and s-bombs and all sorts of other verbal weaponry fly at my innocent mother. The woman is a saint. She is a nice Christian woman who hasn't done anything wrong and does nothing but give.
And here comes this asshole, yelling and cursing at her for something that she didn't even do!
It really shook her up, and if I hadn't had my seat belt on at the time, I don't know what I would have done. No one talks to my mother that way. You wanna call me names and curse at me? Fine. Do your worst. I don't care, and I probably deserve it. But when you start calling my mother a bitch and yelling at her when she has not done a single thing wrong...I will go apesh*t on your ass.
So shocked was I that I just sat there and watched as he tore my mom apart, and I'm kicking myself now for not jumping out of the car and ripping his tongue out. When I told my mom about this, she just shook her head and told me that if I had done anything, it would've provoked him even further, so it's good that I just stayed quiet and let it happen. She wasn't even angry with the guy for saying all of those terrible things to her! She was more concerned with what she might have done wrong to get such a tongue lashing!
I'm just glad my dad wasn't there. He's a scary man. There would've been bloodshed if he caught someone calling his wife a bitch and yelling at her in such a way.
I'd feel a bit of sympathy if the guy had a mental disability or something, but even then, he dubbed my mother a "bitch whore c*nt", so I'm not gonna go out and give him a hug or anything.
You just don't say those kinds of things to a woman. That's my belief, at least. Even if you're close with her, the minute you start cursing deliberately AT a woman, you're sick. At least, that's how it used to be. Things are changing, now, which means I'm probably going to run into this problem again.
I guess common etiquette just doesn't exist anymore.
