Chapter 35: So This is Christmas
Growing Up Is a Royal Thing To Do by coffeegleek
Chapter Summary: Finn's first Hummel Christmas Party isn’t quite what he expected. Kurt’s fifteen one isn’t either.
AN: Sorry for the two year delay between chapters. I had a lot of writer’s block with this chapter. Then after breaking through it for The Queens Passageway and finishing that fic, I told myself that I could do it for this fic too. I found a way through by cutting up the chapter into two parts and moving things around. This fic and the rest of the verse aren’t abandoned. I have so many more bits of the story to tell.

Chapter excerpt:
—
It didn’t take long for Kurt to spot his tall and lumbering future stepbrother bowing to Queen Whitney under the watchful eyes of Miss Pillsbury. Thankfully, she’d taken his suggestion of having him wear a full suit and underwear; the outline of the boxer briefs was obvious. Also obvious was the progress Finn had made. His bow was properly low and his eyes flew up to the queen’s after only a brief look at her breasts and pubic area during the genuflection. Queen Whitney’s smile was brief and courteous, but not the strained, forced one she used with enemies, so clearly Finn had redeemed himself enough for her to stop contemplating a war with the Nation of Lima.
When Kurt made his way over to them, her smile was more genuine and forthcoming. “A lovely Christmastide party as always, Prince Kurt. You and your family’s staff outdid themselves with the decorations this year.”
“Thank you for saying so, Queen Whitney. It’s nowhere near as grand as your Easter festivities, but we do try. I’m glad that you could make it. Don’t tell the other guests, but the chefs made a special mocha cake for you, Prince Consort Doctor Robert, Prince Dante, and Princess Mercedes to take home.”
“The same one you plied my daughter with at that little gathering of yours?”
Kurt didn’t miss the flickering of her eyes at a thankfully silent Finn. “The very same.”
“You always did know the way to my heart. Apology accepted.”
