Expanding Hyrule is excited to announce the return of our summer event: Cross-Legends! We're opening up the rules this year too, not to mention we've got a brand new prompt list. Team up with other Original Legends creators for all kinds of trouble.
This post begins the prep period for this challenge. Posting will start August 2nd, 2026. Posts can go out for a prompt at any point after that prompt week starts. You do not need to participate in all prompts to be included. See the prompt list below for dates.
This is a collaborative prompt challenge! All entries should have at least two creators involved. Partners can be:
BYOB (Bring your own Buddy): If you have someone you already know you want to collaborate with, feel free to get started.
Form Sign Up: You can sign up via this form and our mod team will partner you with matching participants.
All mediums are welcome, how you coordinate that collab is up to you!
As this is an Expanding Hyrule challenge, all entries need to be about Original Legends works (see the definition on our pinned post if you are unfamiliar). This could be a Links Meets, a brand new Original Legend, or anything in between!
When you post: If you post to Tumblr, be sure to tag @expanding-hyrule and use the tag #Cross-Legends so we can reblog it here. If it's on AO3, add it to the AO3 collection here, or tag us in your post about it and we will bookmark it.
Works that use AI in any form will NOT be included in this challenge.
Expanding Hyrule is excited to announce its first prompt challenge: Cross-Legends Adventures! We hope this collab focused project will help connect more creators in EH together and we're looking forward to all the shenanigans these prompts might create! Team up with other Original Legends creators to get your cast in all kinds of trouble.
This post begins the prep period for this challenge. Posting will start August 3rd, 2025. Posts can go out for a prompt at any point after that prompt week starts. You do not need to participate in all prompts to be included. See the prompt list below for dates.
This is a collaborative prompt challenge! All entries should have at least two creators involved. We will keep a running list on this post of people open to collaborate, but if you're looking for some help finding a partner, submit a form here and we'll help match you with someone looking to collaborate. You can also join EH's Discord, we will have a running thread for this challenge there.
All mediums are welcome, how you coordinate that collab is up to you!
As this is an Expanding Hyrule challenge, all entries do need to be about Original Legends works (see the definition on our pinned post if you are unfamiliar). This particular challenge idea was inspired by Links Meet stories, but there is not a requirement for these to focus on only OC Links. You can follow OC Zeldas, villains, or show off original side characters.
If you don't have an Original Legends works but want to participate, we will also accept collaborations between creators with original characters made for someone else's Original Legends settings.
When you post: If you post to Tumblr, be sure to tag @expanding-hyrule and use the tag #Cross-Legends so we can reblog it here. If it's on AO3, add it to the AO3 collection here, or tag us in your post about it and we will bookmark it.
Works that use AI in any form will NOT be included in this challenge.
note: this is for the community writing challenge on @affinitytales discord! we voted on the character and then were given the prompt chore day :D

Today’s your least favorite day of the week. The end of the weekend, and time to finally be productive.
You used to be able to put it off (sometimes)- when you were living on your own- Amy's started to take up your routine with you since she’s pretty much moved into your home.
And while you adore her, and are extremely happy to share spaces and spend your time with her- you don’t particularly like cleaning. Or folding laundry. Or doing chores in general, really.
And she gets pretty… determined to get you motivated to actually do work. Even if she has to drag you out of your nest of blankets and pillows you call your bed.
“C'monnn!” She laughs, tugging on your arm. You know she could easily tug you out of bed- she's way stronger than you are- but her grip is loose and her tone is playful, even as you groan.
“We have a lot to do today!” Amy says gleefully once you sit up, legs swung around to hang over the side of your bed.
She’s made a list, you realize, an actual written out list.
God, she’s so cute.
Your feet drag as she pulls you into your kitchen, dishes sat on the drying rack from the night before.
“First of all, dishes need to be put away. Then we have to do laundry, clean out the fridge, and sweep…”
You’re trying to focus on her rambling off the list of chores, but you just can’t. You zone out slightly in the middle- not because you don’t want to listen to her, but because you get distracted.
Distracted by Amy.
The way she talks, the way she holds herself, the way her eyes flicker around the house as she lists off things that need to be fixed or cleaned, the way she smiles as she glances back at you-
The way she almost instantly knows you weren’t paying any attention and that smile drops into mild, yet affectionate, annoyance.
“Are you even paying attention??” She accuses, grabbing your arms. Her skirt swooshes back animatedly as she leans forward, pout on her lips.
“To you? Always,” You reply, shifting her grip so you can hold her hand.
Her face flushes a pretty pink, almost red, similar to her quills. A wobbly smile is present on her face- from her trying to hide the grin she can’t quite help.
“O-okay, fine, but listen, okay?!” Amy chides, shaking her head.
You just giggle and nod, and she huffs.
“Just, put the dishes away to start. We can do it bit-by-bit.”
You nod, giving her hand a quick squeeze before finally letting it go. You shuffle over to the sink, before turning to her, a lazy grin on your face.
“If I do a good job, can I get a kiss?” You ask, eagerly, and she flushes darker.
“I- You know what? Yeah.”
She turns away, grabbing a basket off the kitchen table and trodding away to your shared bedroom.
Too cute…!
Dishes are a quick task- they’re all already done and dried, so you can quickly put them in the correct cabinets and drawers.
You meander around to the bedroom after you're done, looking for Amy so she can give you your next task.
She’s not there- but you remember what she said was next. Laundry, of course.
You pause, recalling the bit of the list you paid attention to.
“…laundry, clean out the fridge, and sweep…”
If she’s doing laundry, you might as well pick up the next task.
Knowing Amy, she probably listed it by how badly it needed to be done. Probably.
So, you make your way back to your kitchen, swinging open the fridge door.
It used to be so empty before she moved in (even if it was an ‘unofficial’ moving in), but now it’s plenty stocked for the two of you. You remember how she reacted when she saw your (embarrassingly) empty fridge- nothing more than a few apples, some lunchmeat, and energy drinks.
Horror, almost, was on her face before she dragged you to the store to ‘restock’ everything.
Not much as a restock as just… actually grocery shopping for the first time since you moved into your house.
You smile at the memory. She had dragged you around the store- making sure to get all the ‘absolute necessities’ as she put it.
Your hand drifts over one of the drawers, starting with the fruit drawer.
Most of it is pretty fresh- Amy had just brought some home the other day.
(You remember feeling your heart squeeze the first time she said she brought something home- hearing her refer to your shared space as home just felt so right.)
You sort through it slowly, checking dates on anything packaged, setting anything expired or that smelled bad to the side.
The trash was across the kitchen. Too far to individually throw everything away, surely.
It doesn’t matter that your kitchen is tiny.
You close the drawer, moving on.
Everything is pretty much fresh- it’s a little empty right now, in between shopping trips.
You close the fridge, watching as the light switches off right before you shut the door.
“Done with the fridge?”
You jump slightly- not really paying attention to your surroundings while so immersed with the fridge.
You turn, eyes a little wide- but Amy stands behind you, an easy smile on her face while she holds a broom and dustpan.
“Laundry’s folded- there’s another load but after that it’ll be caught up. Plus I sweeped the laundry room, and our bedroom too.”
Nodding, you pick up the few things you plucked out of the fridge, and plopping it into the trash can.
“Oh, the strawberries went bad? Man…” Amy sighs, moving to one side of the room to set the broom against a counter.
“Yeah, they were starting to smell weird. And they were kinda squishy…” You say, making a ‘so-so’ motion with your hand.
Amy nods, grabbing her list again.
“Next iiiiis…”
You listen to her list off a few more chores- and while you don’t particularly like cleaning…
You like Amy. And spending time with her- and you know a clean house makes her happy. And you’d do anything, really, to make her happy.
Maybe it’s not your least favorite day anymore- it hasn’t felt like a dread to get up and do chores for a while, now.
