Supporting Indie Authors (For $0!)

We all know buying books is a great way to support indie authors but not everyone has the budget for every title they want. The good news is that there are so many ways to help an author’s career that don’t cost a cent.

Here are some ideas:

Sign up for their newsletter. This keeps you connected and boosts their mailing list numbers, which helps with visibility and credibility.

Talk about their work online. Share what you loved, favorite quotes, or why you’d recommend it. Tag the author so they can see it!

Make fandom content. Moodboards, fanart, fanfiction, playlists—these not only spread the word, they keep the author’s work alive in the conversation.

Join their community. Be active in their tags, Discords, or reader groups. This makes the fandom more welcoming for newcomers.

Send them a kind message. Knowing someone connected with their work can keep an author going through the tough days.

Right now, I'm challenging you to choose one indie author you love and do one of the above—today. Then tag the Summerfest blog so we can boost your post and help spread the word even further.

Autumn is upon us! And, uh, I can't resist the aesthetic. So... here's our little community Inktober!!

I've done my best to make some cool prompts for you guys :) Every week, there is a prompt. That means there's 5 prompts. This is because there's three extra days :0

This is an ART ONLY event. NO NSFW (not that you guys would lol), however mild fluff is acceptable. These prompts can be done with anything! OCs, favourite characters, AUs, even celebrities (Yes Apaz, that includes Martin.) More than one character in a prompt is allowed! If you wanna do your ship or something :3

Fun community prompt for Guild Wars 2:

Take your least played character, ideally one with a bit of backstory to them, they are now the Commander. They have the same personality, things that happened to them, etc, but they got thrown into the role at the beginning of the personal story.

Whether you want to do this with a story, some blurb, screeches of horror, screenshots of makeover preview or however you want to interpret it. I think it would be kinda fun :)

🎶📻The Last Song i listened to was: Olivia Rodrigo - Drivers License ( i love this song so much i listen to it everyday)

🎥🎬The Last Movie that i watched was: Wonder Woman 1984 ( i love wonder woman but i didn´t like this film so much, kinda was boring to me and i didn´t like the story but its just my opinion😕)

💻📽️The Series that  i´m currently watching are: Record of youth - its a k-drama on netflix ( i´m loving k-drama at the moment), Riverdale (i didn´t like the last two seasons🙁 but i just want to finish the serie) and Tokyo Ghoul (its a anime on netflix that my cousin recommended to me and know i´m obsessed😅)

🤔🤤I´m Currently Craving: Its almost time for lunch for me so i´m craving a big hamburger, fries , and pepsi oh and chocolate cake ( basically everyting that isnt good for my body😅)

A Little Info About Me

Thank you @goldenlegacy for tagging me and wanting to get to know me better (or just catch up) ♥️♥️

🎧🎶 Last song listened to: John Legend preforming Feeling Good at the Biden-Harris Inauguration 2021.

🎥🎞 Last movie watched: Pieces of a Woman on Netflix, with Shia LaBeouf and Vanessa Kirby. (Did not really enjoy it, thought it was a little to slow in tempo, even though some of the acting did redeem it a bit).

🖥👀 Currently I’m watching: A lot of different series, I must admit - my series-game has levelled up during this pandemic. Most reacently I’ve watched This is Us (highly recommend), The Stuarts - A Bloody Reign (a documentary series about the 4 Stuart monarchs of England - a perfectly good serie if you like me is a little history nerd 😂) and Suits (which I’m currently rewatching with my mom, who hasn’t seen it before).

🍴🤤 Currently Craving: An ice cold Pepsi Max and maybe some delicious chocolate like Ferrero Rocher. I know, it’s not really that exciting, but at the moment I’m mostly thirsty and I threw in the chocolate, since I don’t get to enjoy such expensive deliciousness often and it’s been way too long since I’ve last had them.
