About Me
Hi! I'm a 36 year old female starting my college journey for the umpteenth time. I've had a few stumbles throughout my college journey. First was starting college at a big four-year university right out of high school. I was not ready emotionally or maturity wise to attend college and completely flunked out my first year. A few years later, I tried again, and my depression and bipolar disorder was left untreated and again, I flunked out. Now, I am a sophmore in college at my local community college getting my general education requirements before transferring to a larger university.
Please comment or send me messages if encouragement is your thing! It's been weird attending classes with people so much younger than me.
An open letter to the U.S. Congress
Pass President Biden’s budget!
890 so far! Help us get to 1,000 signers!
At a time when working families are having trouble affording everything from healthcare to education to housing to food, we need a budget that lowers costs for millions of households―paid for by making the wealthy and big corporations pay their fair share.
President Biden’s FY2025 budget would expand the Child Tax Credit, expand Affordable Care Act subsidies to help millions of people afford healthcare in states that haven’t expanded Medicaid, invest in free pre-K for 2 million kids, implement a national paid family and medical leave program, provide free community college, expand Social Security’s modest benefits, and more.
It would also reduce the national debt by nearly $3 trillion.
He does this by raising the corporate tax rate, implementing a 25% tax on the wealth gains of billionaires and ultra-millionaires, ending tax breaks for excessive CEO pay, closing loopholes that encourage corporations to ship jobs and profits offshore, and much more.
I urge Congress to pass President Biden’s FY2025 budget to invest in working people and our future. By wide margins, the American people think that the wealthy and large profitable corporations should pay more of their fair share in taxes. So endorsing the president’s budget is not only good policy, it’s good politics. Thanks!

❤️🐟😌🍣💕 Thinking about these lil' dudes today... ••• There I fixed it... It kept bothering me that I had missed the opportunity to give Bryce B. Roll rice for eyebrows. So, now he's got 'em!- JX. From the original post: ❤️🍣💕 Xavi/@xavisaurus and I had #Sushi for dinner tonight. This farted out of me while we were waiting for our food to be delivered. Meet Holly Mackerel and Bryce B. Roll, adopted bro and sis #SushiRoll! I'm thinking of calling it "#HonorRoll". Who knows? Maybe they go to #ElementarySchool, #HighSchool, or maybe even #CommunityCollege or something? Other possible titles were: #RollOver; #OnARoll; #RollWithIt; #Rollin'; #RollOut; #StopDropAndRoll; #RollCall; #SloYoRoll; #RawkAndRoll; etc. "Roll Call" would be cool if Holly and Bryce host some kind of a #PublicAccess Internet #CallInShow. They can dispense the shittiest 💩 advice. It has a ring to it- "Roll Call with Holly and Bryce"! #OriginalCharacters #CharacterDesigns #CartoonsOfTheFuture #Cartoons #Animation #Calarts #CalartsAlumni #CalartsMafia #CalartsStyle #CalArtsCharacterAnimation #JeauxJanovsky #JeauxJ #JeauxJanovskyArt (at Culver City, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/CoNSOtMp6y3/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
"From First Gen to UC Berkeley | Transfer Tea Interviews" at https://www.buzzsprout.com/1242881/5053991
Go Bears!
As I submit my last final essay for this term, I can't help but reflect on my first year at UC Berkeley. Before transferring, I never thought that Cal was a university I'd ever attend. During high school, I enjoyed writing essays, singing in German, playing the cello in multiple music ensembles, and going to swim meets, but I didn't particularly care much for education. I didn't even know I had to take the SAT until the summer before junior year.
When senior year rolled around, I felt discouraged and embarrassed when my closest friends were being accepted to all nine campuses or getting full rides to private schools. Aside from my acceptance to Syracuse, I was met with waitlists and rejections in the double digits. From late March till the end of the school year, I had a hard time answering the question of where I was going to college. I didn't want anyone knowing that I was going to community college because of the stigma that those who went to CCs were unintelligent or lazy. Looking back at it, I can confidently say that I only had myself to blame.
However, my two years at community college really changed my perspective as I got to meet and work with some of the most hardworking people I know. I presented at an honors research conference, joined the college's symphony orchestra, took up cabinet positions in two clubs, and did so much more. I got a second chance at the education I took for granted. I'm not going to lie, those two years were lonely because the people I met had the same goals: get your classes done and get out of here. In those two years, I also struggled with my mental health, but that's a story for a different time.
Despite the struggles I had, I wouldn't change a thing about the educational path I chose. I matured as a student and gained more experience in life and in the workforce. When decisions for transfer students came out, I was accepted to every single school I applied to. Now, I'm at UC Berkeley, and I'm the happiest I've ever been. I met my best friends who plan late-night study dates at Moffitt after getting Yogurt Park. I made Tik Toks for a Curology marketing campaign. I *somewhat* learned how to take the BART. I get to learn from professors who have published books and earned awards in their field. And so much more from just one year.
I'd like to thank the counselors, the professors, and the advisors of the Honors and the Pathways programs at PCC. Without them, I don't know where I'd be right now.
Even if Fall 2020 is remote, here's to my second and last year as a Cal student. Go Bears!
Fall semester has been over for a few weeks and I forgot to post my grades... SO, HERE THEY ARE :)
-I only took 3 classes so I think that made it easier to maintain my grades, I also didn’t want to overwhelm myself for my first semester.
-in another post I’ll be talking about thoughts on the semester and things that helped if I got stressed and also STUDY TIPS!!
-might post about thoughts on taking a winter/. summer course (in which I decided not to)
All A’s bc I can’t afford to take any class again and I need to look good for when I transfer to a real uni 😩
Switzerland Feels in Tinambac
I have been to Tinambac several times because of fieldwork but there are still parts that is left to see and discover. Just recently, I had the chance to visit Tinambac again because of work. Although we are still under the Enhanced Community Quarantine because of the pandemic, we went up to the Tinambac Community College where those who went home from Manila are currently quarantined to check their situation, document it and conduct interviews. This is the view from up.
The fresh lush green fields and flowers in bloom is giving me Switzerland feels. This breath-taking view made me forget for awhile the crisis we are in. Nature is at its best again. I feel blessed to have witnessed this beauty amid our current situation and even though our lives are currently at stake in there.
For the meantime, let us just enjoy the view and imagine that I am in Switzerland while at work and still under ECQ. Hanggang image na lang muna tayo bes. Asan na kasi ang Captain Ri Jung Hyuk ko? Or kahit isang Captain Yoo Shi Jin na lang oh! Joke!! Kdrama pa more! #CrashLandingOnYou #DescendantsofTheSun
Let me end this short blog entry with my favorite Hillsong Worship song that I really love to listen to at this time and love to sing way back in my choir days in high school.
“When the oceans rise and thunders roar, I will soar with you above the storm. Father, You are king over the flood. I will be still and know You are God.”
