There’s something gentle happening in Rio right now. The big statues and cable cars haven’t changed, but the space between them has: new low-impact trails, guides from the favelas, profits staying in the community. Christmas lights are up, yet the loudest thing is people talking across languages on the same path.
It’s the opposite of the usual “destination” noise. And it makes me reflect—when Australians pack the Great Ocean Road or Noosa this summer, could we walk a little lighter, listen a little more, leave more behind than footprints? Rio’s showing it’s possible without losing the joy.
