#apparently this is traviss mando'a and I'm like I Don't Want These @compactpersian
Really? Why not? Personally, as someone who’s very into Mandalorians, I’m beyond excited to see Mando’a canonized, especially the form of it I’m familiar with.
Like, I get hating Traviss (she’s the worst, and I hate her so much, so I’m with you there), and not wanting what she’s written to be canonized, but it seems a little unfair to bring it against the language. The language isn’t as steeped in the problematic toxic masculinity, misogyny and sexism, and general sometimes reductionist view of Mandalorians she takes elsewhere.
Also, while she greatly expanded it, and it’s generally called even by me Traviss Mando’a to differentiate from fan work, it’s actually an invention by Jesse Harlin, composer for the Republic Commando game, and I’m personally really invested in his work, as the originator of the language, being canonized.
And, I guess it’s a little much to ask the writing team to create an entirely new conlang when there’s one right there. And, when the Concordian dialect of the Mandalorian language that exists in TCW is already clearly a cousin of the Traviss Mando’a.
