Introduction and selection of automatic sewing machine needle:
There are many types of sewing machine needles. Careful, you may have noticed the marks such as size 75 / 11 on the packaging of the sewing machine. What do 75 and 11 stand for here? In fact, it also refers to the model. The front is made in Europe and the back is made in the United States. The following is the comparison table between American and European systems:
European systems: 60 65 70 75 80 90 100 110 120
American systems: 8 9 10 11 12 14 16 18 19
Our country usually adopts the American name, such as #11 needle, # 14 needle and so on
Whether European or American, the smaller the number, the thinner the needle.
The needle selection is mainly based on the thickness of the cloth. The thinner the material, the thinner the needle. If you use a thick needle to sew thin cloth, you will leave large needle holes on the cloth, which is very unsightly. On the contrary, if you use a thin needle to sew thick cloth, it is easy to break the needle.
So many models, should we prepare them one by one? Of course not. Ordinary household is generally #11 and #14. # 11 is used to sew muslin, and #14 is used to sew canvas, denim or patchwork. Further consideration can be given to # 9 and # 16. # 9 can sew window screen knitted cotton, # 16 can sew thick canvas and so on.
Introduction and selection of automatic sewing machine thread:
The models and specifications of sewing thread are more abundant. Let's introduce the most commonly used polyester thread. Now most of the lines on the market are also such lines.
The common models of polyester thread are: 20s / 2, 20s / 3, 30s / 2, 30s / 3, 40s / 2, 40s / 3, 50s / 2, 50s / 3, 60s / 2, 60s / 3, among which the most common is 40s / 2.
What does the model of polyester thread mean? The first half of "/" indicates the number of yarns. 20s is 20 yarns and 30s is 30 yarns. What is "number"? Count refers to the total length of 840 yards (1 yard = 91.4 cm) of yarn spun from one pound (453.6 g) of raw materials. The total length of 16800 is 20s, and the total length of 33600 is 40s. It's complicated, isn't it? In fact, we only need to know that the larger the number in front of S, the thinner the yarn.
What does 2 or 3 after "/" mean? This refers to the number of strands of yarn. You can take the sewing thread at hand and take a closer look. It's not a single yarn, but two or three strands twisted together. The expression of 2 shares is / 2, and 3 shares is / 3.
20s / 2 means that the sewing thread is twisted by 2 strands of 20 yarns, and 20s / 3 means that the sewing thread is twisted by 3 strands of 20 yarns.
As with needle selection, fine thread is selected for thin cloth and thick thread is selected for back material. 40s / 2 thread is most commonly used for household sewing. It can be used to sew ordinary cloth. 20s / 2 thread can be used for thick material or surface decoration.
