@compelledcurator sent: Hope it's okay to throw at you! [X] Wanda Wilson to Steven Grant "Stop making me laugh, I'm gonna fall in love" Memes from my meme tag || always accepting
Steven's having a great tour day today, he's sure he's absolutely killing it this time (well, erm, not literally killing it because that wouldn't be nice at all, really, but rather figuratively so); Including an ancient love letter into his program, one that had once been written by a man telling about his struggles to woo the love of his life by attempting to bring her a variety of (rather ridiculous) gifts (which did the complete opposite of what he'd expected them to do, it seems) - yeah, Steven's certainly made a good choice in showing off that stone tablet to the now very interested (and entertained) tourists instead of just doing the same old thing again and again.
He supposes that's because they're kinda used to being shown the big, outright imposing relics by now - the ones everyone wants to see for obvious reasons, like the sarcophagi, some of which still holding a very real mummy inside - but something as mundane as a glimpse at an ordinary guy's life... it's new, it's refreshing, and it allows people to realize that those men and women, three-thousand years ago, were just, well, people! They struggled with the same things, worried about similar matters, and were very much in love and rejected on the regular!
So, reading that one stone letter out loud to the crowd that's listening eagerly, it did make most of them chuckle and laugh at some of the more funny complaints that poor guy had decided to carve into stone - and Steven might also be especially good at imitating a heartbroken man who wonders why the gifts he's been offering to his future-wife always causes him to get kicked out of her house instead of him being allowed to move in; Fun fact, marriage as people know it nowadays did not exist back in ancient Egypt, couples were basically 'married' when one moved into the other's home, simple as that!
More laughter once Steven finishes up the story of the unlucky fella, followed by him having to smile himself - it's one of his most favorite relics, simply because it's so... day-to-day, yeah! A glimpse at the ordinary life of an ordinary man who used to live thousands of years ago, hopefully ended up with a lovely woman at some point...
"...Oh gosh, uhm, I'm glad you enjoyed it!" With the tour having come to an end, people beginning to spread out and walk away from where he's wished them all a good day and happy exploring history, one woman stays - and speaks to him, to which Steven finds himself blushing a little, simply because receiving such a compliment is... well, something! He clears his throat as he faces her, momentarily unaware of who she is, his own brain still needing to wrap it all up and process the whole of that tour he just did. "---That poor bloke was definitely going through something, wasn't he? Trying again and again, didn't understand why the love of his life wasn't feeling enamored by him continuing to offer her a home-made brick... I mean, gotta have to say though, bricklayers were incredibly important back in egypt and the profession a highly regarded one, but... perhaps his bricks weren't especially beautiful ones? Should've tried to bring her loafs of bread, grains of wheat and barley, perhaps jewelry of some sort, heh! Ah, well... It's a little sad that we'll never know whether he managed to figure it out in the end, I really hope he did. To me, he sounded quite humble and nice - just... didn't really understand..."
Ah, yes, Steven's rambling again, because of course he is. Clearing his throat once he realizes, he throws an apologetic glance at the woman, then allows for a half-shrug to tug on his shoulders as he fiddles a bit with his shoulder bag...
"---Sorry, I tend to, uh, be passionate about stuff sometimes. Erm, again, glad to know you enjoyed the tour! I try my best to make it enjoyable for everyone!"
