I made a new video about cosplay craftsmanship!! But this time around instead of my usual stats, I have the most chaotic crafting example to serve as a visual aid to flesh out my discussion points — word on the street is the section where I show what I consider a "Step One" for creating a piece with good craft as both a highly awarded craftsmanship competitor and competition judge, has been extremely enlightening for my fellow competitive cosplayers looking to up their game!

the intensity with which i get cool as hell costume ideas would be more cool if i had the technical knowhow and budget to make them happen. what do you mean i require copper banding to do stained glass stuff all i wanna make is armour

i know that finding ways to do it regardless is part of the creative process but it is sad that my initial mental image will not be the final product; and that i'm 90% sure no cosplay competition in the UK would accept an original costume design that isn't based on a character in fiction/pop culture (I would be delighted to be proven wrong!)

🗡️ hello!! I’m garish! my pronouns are they/she, and I’m a 19yr old cosplayer/artist/costumer from 🇨🇦

🗡️ I started cosplaying competitively earlier this year, and won a judges choice award at Fanexpo Vancouver 2025 with my Jester Lavorre cosplay that I’m currently in the process of revamping!

🗡️ I am currently going to university for costuming, and my goal is to be a breakdown artist for film & tv!! If you’re ever curious/have questions about ageing + dyeing costumes pls don’t hesitate to ask! I would love to build more of a community on Tumblr for costume breakdown!

🗡️ some of my interests include D&D, Critical Role, Welcome to Night Vale, The Mountain Goats, David Bowie, the 60s as a decade and the later half of the Middle Ages, WWDITS, TLOU, TMA, Monster High, the Simon Snow trilogy, TLT, and any movie by Jordan Peele
