1v1 Sniper Cheating with Baptiste

Baptiste is insanely good at helping his DPS win sniper duels. Here are three specific ‘cheat’ spots you can use even if you aren’t actually going to play Baptiste. These are three immortality field spots that you can reach quickly and help your snipers look for initial picks right as the game starts.

There are other spots you can use of course, but these three specifically stand out because even if you aren’t going to actually play Baptiste, you can quickly reach the spot, set up the field so your sniper can’t die, wait a couple seconds, and then switch to whatever support you want to play (or stay Bap).

Quick Reminder: Bap’s field is line of sight, this means that if there is a wall/corner between you and the center part of the field (lamp, frisbee, disc, etc) then you are not immortal even if you are within it’s boundary. 

Kings Row Attack

This is a no-brainer peek. If one of your teammates decides to look for a pick from here as the game starts just throw your immortality field against the wall. Then they are safe from dying (for a little bit). Just don’t throw it in front of the window itself!

Junkertown Attack

If one of your teammates decides to start up here you can set up another immortality spot. Don’t set it up along the wall (red x) because it’s easy to lose line of sight with the field. Just set it up right inside, where the enemies can’t shoot it down and your teammates can shoot safely.

Rialto Attack

This one would be the least common “out of spawn” fields, simply cause starting there is less common and it’s a farther trip from spawn. You can use the wall, or place it behind the edge of the left building (blue checkmark) so that your teammates still get the protection and the enemy can’t shoot it down. 

These might be simple strategies, but these can immediately start to sway a game and give your team the edge when it comes to opening picks. Even if I’m playing Ana, Zen, or another support, I always consider my snipers on these maps first. If I can help them get an opening pick I will always swap to Bap and then swap off. It’s all the little things that add up to wins. 

Hopefully this gives you some ideas about creative field usages.

Quick Tip:

If you’ve just been nano-boosted as Reinhardt in a standoff against another Reinhardt, keep your shield up for a second! Oftentimes when a Reinhardt gets boosted the other Rein immediately looks for a shatter to counter the nano. Keep your shield up for a second before moving in to try and counter any preemptive shatters!

Likewise if you’re against a Rein who was just boosted, you can probably look for a shatter to counter them if they suddenly go aggressive. (Just watch for their own shatter).

Ana: When Do I...?

Sleep Dart?

When you need to escape someone who's diving you.

When the enemy Winston gets too angry.

When the enemy Reinhardt puts his shield down.

When one of your teammates is being charged by the enemy Reinhardt.

When an enemy Dva is about to remech.

When there's an ulting Hog, Moira, Genji, Reaper, Pharah, McCree or other interruptible hero.

When the enemy Genji is not deflecting at you.

Anti-Grenade?

When the enemy team is clustered together.

When the Reinhardt/Brig has their shield down.

When the enemy Zarya has used her bubbles.

When the enemy Winston/Orisa shield is not up.

When the enemy Dva is out of defense matrix.

When the enemy Genji is not deflecting.

When your team has gotten gravved.

When the enemy team has gotten gravved.

When your team is grouped together.

When you need to score quick heals.

When you want to finish off an enemy you know is low.

When you need heals and your other support isn't healing you.

When your team is not purpled.

When you need to combo to kill someone. (Shoot, nade, shoot, punch)

When you're getting dived.

When you're getting frozen by a Mei.

No Scope Shot?

When there's big tanks for you to shoot.

When your team needs heals in a timely manner.

When your target is not super far away.

When you're pre-firing around corners.

Scoped Shot?

When your target is extremely far away.

When you need to deliver heals even faster then usual.

When there's an enemy Pharah/Mercy to pick off.

When you need to quickscope and heal/kill a more mobile target.

If you miss too many no scope shots in a row.

If you're aiming at targets that are generally "harder to hit."

Nano Boost?

When your Genji has blade.

When your team has a Winston (no ult!).

When your Reinhardt lands a fat shatter.

When your Zarya has high charge.

When you want to keep someone important on your team alive.

When you want to save someone from the verge of death.

When your target is not purpled.

When your team is there to support each other.

When it's Overtime and you're about to die and you have to boost anyone.

When your target has their abilities off cooldown.

When you want someone to "Get in there."

Sneaky Widow Spots  (Part 2)

(Part 1)

Wanted to follow up to my previous spot post and add 3 more. Might be the last Widow spot post for a while? I don’t know for certain. Here are 3 more sneaky(ish) spots to get cool shots from! Below the cut!

Eichenwalde Defense:

This one is a pretty common peek. Once scoped in you have a clear view of the spawn doors and can dome people walking right out. It’s fairly known I think, though usually Widow’s will position elsewhere. 

Junkertown Defense:

This is a pretty standard peek for defense Widowmakers. You can almost always land shots as the doors open and then get out in time by just backing up. It’s a tiny bit tricky to land there so just be surefooted.

Here’s another view of the spot. My reticle is right where you would stand. Once you land your shots just back up into safety! 

Volskaya Defense:

This last peek isn't so much a peek as a roost. It offers a clear view to the far sniper spot and has cover from the top left but if you’d want to snipe there you’d have to rotate. It’s a useful spot but it’s very out in the open compared to the other spots so be wary!

Those are the quick peeks that I have stored so far. I’ll probably go into another custom game and snag more, but I do want to focus on other hero guides so those will probably happen first.
