Who To Hack: A List

Here’s a handy list of who to hack when you’re playing Sombra. There are exceptions obviously (see read more), but for the most part these are some smart guides to follow.

The reason some heroes are in the Probably Not/Never category is because one of the following reasons.

There are better heroes to hack.

Hacking this hero is risky.

You shouldn’t need to hack them to win a fight.

Obviously, targets can fluctuate from game to game. For example, if there’s a really annoying Dva, consider hacking her over other targets.

The thing is, every hero is technically a viable hack target. But not every hero is the best target to hack. Consider your opponent’s team comp and the current situation carefully when deciding who to disable. Think about how hacking this enemy would cripple the team. 

Example: When choosing between hacking a Zen or Zarya, disabling the Zen is pointless because all he has is Harmony and Discord. Also that matchup is just mechanical skill. Unless your team is looking to Grav or do some big play (Dragonblade, Death blossom) then hack the Zarya. There is much more value out of that even though the Zen is technically the more important target.

I hope this helps any hardworking Sombra mains out there. This isn’t set in stone, but it’s 9/10 applicable. Play smart, win smart!

How Blizzard handles Overwatch nerfs

DPS Mains: This Support hero is actually viable, we demand you nerf them!

Blizzard: Okay, here’s an unnecessary nerf, is this better?

DPS Mains: NO THEY’RE STILL TOO GOOD!

Blizzard: Okay, here’s another unnecessary nerf, is this better?!

DPS Mains: NO!!!!!!!!!

Blizzard: Okay, here’s a ridiculously huge nerf that makes the hero completely unrewarding and unfun to play, is this better?!?!

DPS Mains: Still a little too useful for our tastes, but it’s fine...for now.

Support Mains: Hey, this DPS hero is really powerful and can utterly destroy us with next to no effort. It’s really not fun to play against, so can they get a tiny nerf? Please?

Quick Tip:

When fighting against a Moira, don’t bother trying to jump or crouch spam or any of the sort. Since Moira’s attack is a soft lock-on there’s no point. Instead just stand still and try and line up your shots on her!

Sneaky Widow Peek Spots (Part 1)

So there’s a bunch of clutch spots to get Widowmaker peek shots, wanted to share a few of them. Not all of them are the most useful, or the most tactical. Remember that just because a roost/flank/spot is there doesn’t mean you should use it. Some of these are real sneaky though!

Hanamura Defense:

A very cheeky spot if you want to get some sneaky shots off. If you crouch you can also see the platform right above the choke. I’d recommend only using this for one team fight because once they figure out your location you should probably relocate. If you play the right side it can be useful.

Here’s a view of the square you stand on during that peek. Watch for flankers!

Rialto Defense:

This is a great peek, especially if the enemy team doesn't have a Widow. You have clear view of the enemy spawn doors and can definitely get some quick shots in before they realize you’re up there.

It’s a pretty weird hook to get up there though, so I’d recommend practicing getting to this spot if you’re planning on using it. 

Hollywood Defense:

This peek is honestly a multi hero peek. When I’m playing Ana or Zen I always send a volley of orbs or a sleep down there as the doors open. Basically any hero can utilize this spot. If you’re playing Widow and peeking from this spot though, be careful, lining up a headshot can be difficult from this peek.

Quick Tips: Ashe

Ashe is now live! I decided to make a bunch of tips on one post for her as she’s brand new.

Ashe is hitscan but her shots don’t fire right away, meaning you still have to fire a tiny bit ahead.

If you’re having trouble landing shots, try aiming with her movement, meaning you keep your mouse in one place and use WASD to line up her shots.

You can jump and use the coach gun for extra height. Just remember to save it when you’re fighting at an edge.

The coach gun can be used to counter Doomfist punches/slams if timed correctly.

Generally just try and land a scoped head shot + one unscoped shot. That’ll finish off a ton of squishies.

Dynamite won’t start ticking down until it hits something so it won’t start counting down in midair.

It’s easier to hit the dynamite if you toss it and then use left click. (Your unscoped shot).
