So Zaharya asked me to give them some mdzs fic recs that were fluffy, yearning, short to mid length. I got so many i thought id just fucking organize the list as a tumblr post.
Letterless by diamondbruise - 16k, fox!wwx dragon!lwj, E - very very cute. Wwx is seen as a hated trickster because hes a fox and he meets dragon lwj who is trying (not very hard) to find someone suitable to marry. WWX figures hes the BEST person to help him do this.
Back up and dream again by The Silverfish - 4k, time travel fix it, T - LWJ wakes up in the past and gives zero fucks about telling people he loves WWX. Not much yearning but its also a v quick read.
Standing Engagement by x_los - 18k, sunshot campaign, M - Sooo calling this fluff is kinda stretching it, but its really as fluffy as sunshot campaign era gets. LWJ believed he and WWX got engaged while stuck together in the cave and lets it slip when he and JC are searching for WWX during the time wwx was missing. Like its angsty but its SO MUCH less angsty than this part of the timeline normally is that it kinda turns almost into fluff?
My Leaves Reach Ever for the Sun by nonplussed - 26k, Crossdressing!WWX, Jin Ling's 1 month, T - Very cracky concept where wwx dresses as a woman to attend jin lings 1 month celebration and runs into lwj and asks him to help sell the bit. Cue fluffy mutual pining, wwx being all like "wow i wish i really WAS lwjs girlfriend, such a pity im straight". DEFINITELY better than it sounds
the breaking of your soul (upon my lips) by sunsandships - 40k, phoenix mountain kiss, canon divergence, M - Basically WWX is slightly less (ONLY SLIGHTLY!!) of an oblivious idiot and realizes it was lwj who kissed him at the group hunt. Things get fixed from there. Ngl my memory of this one is vague and this might get a bit angsty
Pigtail Pulling by protos_metazu_ison - 3.7k, cloud recesses, G - just gonna whack the summary here: “Tell me I’m beautiful, Lan er-gege!” “You are well aware you are beautiful,” Lan Wangji says. Wei Wuxian trips over Jiang Wanyin and sends both of them to the ground in a tangle of limbs and bruises.
A Mother’s Curse (A Mother’s Blessing) by Eudoxia - 33k, fox!wwx and lwj, mpreg sorta but its not a big part, E - LWJ is half fox spirit on his mothers side and curses himself into his fox form until somone falls in love with him to avoid arranged marriage. A few years later wwx shows up at the cloud recesses. Absolutely adore this fic.
Just Say Yes by edenwolfie - 10k but more in the series, cloud recesses arc, arranged marriage, T - love love love love LOVE this series! Basically LQR decides to my fair lady wwx when he accepts that lwj is in love with him in the cloud recesses. Poor baby lwj is pining and wwx is oblivious!!
Righteous at a Cost by thunderwear - 21k, burial mounds fix it, G - LQR sees what stat the wens and wwx are in in the burial mounds and brings them back to gusu.
The One-Body Problem by metisket - 28k, found family, possesion, T - I. WILL. NEVER. NOT. REC. THIS FIC. The one body problem is like my favourite shorter mdzs fic. Ive already recced it to you but if you havent read it yet heres rec no. 2. WWX accidentally possesses lan jingyi and the two talk to each other. This is more fluff and angst than pure fluff but it IS yearning and it is ALSO found family between ljy and wwx. This is the fic that made me fall in love with ljy and it is a TRAGEDY that the dynamic between him and wwx in this fic isnt a common trope in the fandom.
