Easy No-Mod/No-Glitch Taffington Boathouse Roof fix
Taffington Boathouse is an interesting settlement, but it’s difficult to get much use out of it without first repairing that pesky roof. Luckily, you can accomplish that without the use of any glitches or mods. All you need is a little patience and the Contraptions DLC!
Instructions under the cut.
In the shade of the Castle’s walls sits SolSu Reynard’s private quarters. In pretty stark contrast with Ian Malcolm’s over-the-top Home Plate, Rey’s quarters are compact and full of all the basic necessities while still showing off their personal taste. Since Rey’s primary role is General of the Minutemen, I wanted them to have quarters at their base of operations that, while definitely nice by Wasteland standards, aren’t palatial and focus on practicality. I also wanted Rey’s home to be accessible to any Minutemen who might want to bring their concerns to them while at The Castle.
PS4. Unlock Settlement Objects and OCDecorator mods.
I caved and downloaded a bunch of fucking mods for my settlement building. 8| There was no reason not to; with mods now available on even the holdout PS4, it’s a (relatively) even playing field. Anyway, here’s what I made first for some reason: a laundromat/bathhouse for Sanctuary. It’s part of a much larger chain of buildings that are still only half furnished, so maybe you’ll see more of Sanctuary from me? Maybe. I make no promises.
so this is the house that Vaughn Zander built for him, Hancock and their son, Shaun. It’s located in Sanctuary Hills, its the last house on the street...
In third pic, after the stairs, its Vaughn’s “bedroom” (we say bedroom, we tried to make walls but its imposible but lets pretend there are walls for the bedroom), also upstairs is Shaun’s room.
Starting today (the 20th) until the end of January, the Commonwealth Challenge blog is going to focus on player homes. This includes: •Player home tours, builds and screencaps •Featured mods •Tips and Tutorials
Does your Sole Survivor live in a Wasteland mansion or a humble boxcar? Do they favor Home Plate or perhaps their original home in Sanctuary? Whatever the case, this is the time to share it! Use the “Complete the Commonwealth” tag, message a link to this blog, or submit a settlement to the challenge so your creation can be featured on the blog. Throughout the duration of Way Back Home I’ll be giving out little awards (such as “Most Livable Boxcar”) and possibly a few prizes for really creative homes! Your home can be at any settlement within the game (not just Home Plate), and you’re welcome to have multiple homes featured.
If you have any requests for tips and tutorials, be sure to send them in. Most importantly, have fun!
I know I don’t post much settlement stuff anymore, but I recently got inspired to get back into it from following some settlement build blogs (@falloutbuilds, @wastelandbuilds and @happywastelanddesigner). So here’s a look at a WiP Red Rocket, where I get a little creative with a junk barricade. This is from my Minutemen-focused RP SolSu Reynard. Also pictured: The Minutemen Field Office for Red Rocket and it’s interior, dog kennel, bar, and an interior view of what the partially built junk wall looks like. Going to work on another settlement but I’ll come back to this when I have a solid plan for the Western half of the settlement space. PS4. I use the Unlock Settlement Objects mods, which despite recent organization issues I still highly recommend. Doggos provided by that good, good super mutant pal Erickson.

I finally got around to uploading a tour of (Sole Survivor) Ian Malcolm’s Home Plate! This is his home base where he stashes all his valuables, loot and uh... trophies. I definitely wanted to give him a home that fit his persona well, and while I could probably expand upon this with mods in the future, this captures him quite well.
