“Should we tell them?” He says, his arms around her waist, pulling her closer, her arms around his neck.
“What about George?” She questions
“Well, what about him?” Lockwood’s eyebrows raze slightly.
"Well, he doesn’t exactly approve of me having boyfriends." She closes her eyes, biting her lip slightly. Lockwood moves one of his hands from her waist to cup her cheek, and immediately she leans into the warmth.
“Hey, it’ll be okay. We’ll be okay. What's the worst that can happen?” He smiles softly.
Nodding slightly, she steps back and holds her hand out for him to take.
“Come on then; let's get this over with.”
They both walk downstairs, her clammy hand in his, squeezing tightly. Pushing open the door to the kitchen, she slowly walks in, interrupting Lucy and George’s conversation as they look over. Clearing his throat, Lockwood decides to take the initiative as he brings the two of them into the kitchen.
“Y/N and I have an announcement to make.” He glances at the girl by his side, sending her a comforting smile as he continues, “We’re dating.”
George stands up and asks, "What do you mean you're dating?” He hissed.
“I’d think it's fairly obvious what we mean, George,” Y/N says, speaking up, locking eyes with her brother for the first time. His eyes narrow slightly, looking between Lockwood and his younger sister. "For how long?”
“A couple of weeks.”
There's an awkward silence looming over the group when Lucy suddenly gets up from her chair and walks over to Lockwood and Y/N.
"Finally, happy for you guys. Good luck with George,” she says in a whisper as she squeezes Y/N's shoulder, walking out of the room.
The silence returns, with no one knowing what to say.
"George, listen-” Her sentence gets cut short when George interrupts, “I don't want you guys dating.”
Storming out of the room and slamming the door, he crashes his shoulder into Lockwood as he leaves. She turned to Lockwood, tears welling up in her eyes.
“What are we going to do?” Her voice breaks as she lets the tears fall. Frowning, he pulls her into him, resting his chin on her head.
“I don't know, but we’ll figure it out, okay? I'm sure he’ll come around." His voice was low and monotone.
“But what if he doesn’t? Lockwood I love you. I don't want us to end,” cried Y/N.
“So we won't.” Pulling back so he could see her face, he leaned down to place a loving kiss on her forehead. She nods her head, looking into his eyes, before looking back at the door.

Making her way to the attic in need of her best friend's support, she calls out her name, “Luce? Can I come up?”
“Yeah!” shouted Lucy
Continuing up the stairs, she collapses onto the comfy bed, making a strangled noise as she groans into the fluffy pillows.
“Oh, Luce, I don’t know what to do." The girl pleaded.
Lucy moves so her head lays in her lap comfortingly. She looks down and strokes her hair gently.
“What happened?” Questioned the girl, she had always known there was something between Lockwood and Y/N she had known since she first walked into Portland Row. Lucy felt happy for her friends, but seeing one of the people she got the closest to was so upset she wasn't sure what to do.
“He doesn’t approve Lucy. He told us that he didn't want us together, then stormed out. His approval means the world to me.”
“Have you tried talking to him?”
“No.”
“Then why don’t you? Tell him how you feel about it.”
“Yeah, but I'm scared. What if he still doesn't want us together? What would happen?”
“I don't know, but it’s worth a try. If it helps, can I talk to George tomorrow?”
Y/N knew it had to be her to talk to her brother; it had to be handled maturely.
“No, it's okay. I’ll go talk to him now.” She says this as she gets out of bed.
“Okay, well, I'm always here if you need anything." she smiles,
Walking to the top of the stairs Y/N turns and smiles
“Thank you.”
Knocking on the door lightly, she waits a few minutes before walking in.
“Georgie,” she says softly, already feeling tears threatening to fall.
He’s sitting on his bed when he looks up, his head buried in a book. motioning for her to come sit by him.
Sprawling out on the bed, she looks over at her brother and says, “I'm sorry, Georgie, just please hear me out.”
He nods
“Lockwood and I love each other, George, and that can’t be helped.”
“I know, but it’s just hard to see you grow up.”
“Yes, but you need to let me go, Georgie; I'm not a little kid anymore.”
Looking over at her, he smiles teary-eyed, mentally cursing himself for how he can get so emotional about this.
“I understand, but if he ever hurts you, I'll..."
“George,” she laughs.
“Thank you,” she starts, “for understanding that it is.”
“Of course, I'm only looking out for you.”
