First day of my new job at the gaming store was amazing. I held a real copy of Earthbound Complete in my hand for the 1st time in my life. It was sweet. GUCCCCCCCCCCIIIIIII

By George, I think [I’ve] got it!

This morning started like most. Rolled out of bed, brewed a pot of coffee, turned on the waffle iron and struggled to get the kids out of bed.  While awaiting the pitter patter of feet into the kitchen I sat down to my computer and a notification came up about a Facebook auction for some Nintendo related goodies.  I’m more of a lurker on these groups and only rarely comment or participate in the live auctions but I found an awesome local seller who was clearing out some complete in box and loose boxes for NES games.  

Scrolling the page I found 3 empty boxes for games I already had the cartridge and accompanying manual for so I scooped them up for a good price.  What set this seller apart was the fact that he was also in Kelowna and, even though it was not his usual modus operandi, he agreed to meet me locally to dispense with having to ship them within town. 

People like George really cement my faith in the collecting community.  He went out of his way to meet me to complete our transaction and we got talking about mutual contacts we know in the gaming scene and swapped stories about collecting for our given platform for a while.  It is always refreshing to meet others with the same passion for gaming and willingness to help fellow collectors out. The price was very fair and the boxes themselves were in pretty good shape.  What made the Tetris box really cool was the original Zellers retail price tag on it. It is something of a time capsule like the discovery of a Blockbuster membership card or, one day not long from now, a stuffed Geoffrey the Giraffe; all these childhood storefronts that, in recent years, have gone the way of the Dodo.  

They say the early bird catches the worm and between that and the adage of right place, right time I was glad that I decided to open my laptop with my morning cup of java today.  This trio complete 3 more games for me!
