the weird thing is pre-my post-new spring fantasy revival era I know I would have been obsessed with this book bc it’s kind of like pizza girl/convenience store woman’s weird in a different way sister but now that I know there’s stuff out there that’s like. sympathetic to women who behave strangely and try to conceal that strangeness by copying other people or are like repressed lesbian haters without being smirked at by the narrative I can’t go back. unfortunately I probably got bullied too much as a kid to have the stomach for acerbic postmodern literature
