The walk to school was usually quiet for Shuichi. Often he would walk while either reading a novel or listening to music on his phone, him doing the former this morning. It wasn’t really until he got close enough to the school where we would start seeing a lot more other students. Aside from that, he was usually walking alone with maybe one or two students walking up ahead or across the street.
He was still a few streets away from the school. He heard someone walking on the same side of the sidewalk as him. It was a pretty narrow sidewalk, and he was admittedly walking a bit slowly since he was busying himself reading... so he turns his head back real quick to see who it was.
“!” It was Izuru. Shuichi was mostly surprised since he normally didn’t see the upperclassman on his way to school. They were acquaintances at best, since Shuichi really hadn’t interacted with him personally like that, really only knowing him as the very talented guy who was very quiet.
Still, he stops to step out the way in case he was walking too slow ahead of him. He also gives a small nod of greeting as means of ‘good morning’, with a semi-awkward smile. He didn’t want to seem rude and just not at least acknowledge him, after all.
