Friendly reminder that continually denying compliments that people give you because you don't feel like you deserve them is not endearing or cute, it's frustrating and it pushes people away
I understand not feeling good enough or deserving enough to take them, I was there too, but fuck's sake, doesn't hating yourself feel so tiring? In fact, I know it does
I have had the urges to say "No, I'm not pretty" and "I'm not as smart as you think I am..." and I have done those things - and I still do those things from time to time, but the more you feed them, the more you say those things, the more you believe them and the more you push away people who care, dissuage them from complimenting you again because they know what the outcome will be - They know they'll have to sit there and fight you for 10 minutes every single time they want to tell you anything about yourself
I get it, I really, really get it, but please for the love of the gods, at some point, you just have to say thank you, even if you dont agree
And with any luck, it'll start making you believe it too
5.22.18. I am going to preface this workout recap by saying that I woke up feeling great. I put on a dress and looked nice. THEN I stepped on the damn scale and it has wrecked my day since. I didn't have the food I had planned to eat, I forgot my sports bra and had to go back to get one, the gym was full, the a.c. isn't working, my hip is being old, and I was just cranky. UNTIL a little old man working out next to me while I was in the rack looked me dead in the eyes after my set and said, "You are AMAZING!" We chatted for a few minutes and mood was so lifted. There's another guy who frequently lifts the same time as me also commented on my hair. OK OK! I WON'T BE CRANKY FOR THE REST OF THE DAY! Be kind to people. You can, quite literally, make their day. I also found a cool rock. What will the rest of today bring? Anyways. 3 miles of incline intervals and 4 sets a squat/kettlebell couplet. BOOM.
did you see my new mystery snails
PSA for my ladies
If you you see another woman and she’s serving looks or something nice to say pops into your head let her know! Let’s uplift each other and be our own hype men. I always make sure I speak up if I have something to say because the look on that person’s face is well worth it. Don’t have a filter when it comes to compliments ! Who knows you might just make someone’s day ☺️
Hey Fellas!
Just cause some of these lovely women like to show their bodies on tumblr, doesn’t mean you have to go in their asks and DMs and disrespect them. A small compliment or kind observation is all you need to say, or better yet just reblog their stuff to show them love ❤️ and keep it moving. If they want to talk to you they’ll respond to you, but don’t go in guns blazing talking about how much you wanna fuck them or sending unwarranted dick pics, if that comes up in convo one day then you can say/do something, but not off the first ask/msg 🤦🏾♂️ lol
Random memory 💭
I remember when I first made friends with people in my university accommodation and, we were all sat around a table for dinner, and I was pretty insecure and nervous still around them, and I had just made a joke. Anyway, sometimes I wouldn't be at dinner, as I'd have a class or whatever and one of my housemates turned and said to me, "I wish you were at dinner more often, you're so hilarious, I can't handle how funny you are! We all need someone like you in our lives!" And that was over a year ago, and I still think about it to this day, and it makes me smile so damn much! Literally, if you ever think something about someone, like if they're funny, sweet, kind, or whatever, please never hesitate to tell them. These things make people's day and can really boost their day! 🌤💜💫
