Can They See Me
I live two blocks from my office. My apartment is currently an unsettling block of space 39 floors above the corner of Rudolph and Willis. Not far off to the northwest is my office. An even more unsettling block of space 10 floors above Frankel and Wicker. I can see my desk from my apartment. Though any view from my desk into my apartment is near impossible to work out, I still wonder if they can see me.
I’m not playing hooky. I’m not making unsavory gestures out the window. I just wonder if they really own me as much as it feels like they do.
Can they see me?
Ok, maybe I’m lingering well past the unofficial “hour” allotted for lunch.
It doesn’t matter. They know that I am here.
