Got more gas so feeling more chipper! 🥳 . Big pile o’ branches & leaves reduced to wee chips 🤓👍 I’m sure the 95°F/35°C heat helped break everything down (or was that just me? 🫠) . Landworks 7hp chipper can deal with a lot of heavy stuff up to 3”, & also has a helluva blower—started digging a trench at the bottom of the compost cage! 😮 . Also mos def need a wire backstop to catch the chips, unless you want to send them flying into your neighbor’s garage 😬 . Werkin’ it ✊🏻 Half a pile turn, mainly to sift a couple wheelbarrow’s worth of compost / castings (so. many. worms!) to start prepping raised beds. . While turning my compost pile, I went to sift some out for my raised beds & SPLAT! Hella worms splattered all over the wheelbarrow sides! 😬 First time that’s ever happened. Guess a lot of wormbabies in the pile. Good for the garden! 🤓👍 . Go from feeling wiped to totally tubular! . Remember: your “brown” 💩 is actually a “green” in composteese (& should be compoosted separately for at least a year or two before) 🙏 . Your TP rolls, on the other (washed) hand, are a great source of “brown”—carbon. Bonus: the spaces provided by the tubes, as they crush unevenly, & egg cartons help provide air to prevent anaerobic goblins from growing inside your pile. . Speaking of piles of steaming brown goodness—your used coffee grounds are also a “green”—rich in nitrogen & needs the worms / composting process to transmogrify into a form plants can feast on. . New leaves settling into left bin as “old” compost finishes in right bin . It takes a lot o’ leaves to fill a bin! They keep dleaflating 🤣 . I do layer in thin spreads of coffee grounds & some compost from the right bin to get more microbes movin’.
