Summary: Alice was a happy go lucky kind of girl. Alice is brave, courageous and a rather reckless. She’s loud, and sure of herself. She loves deeply and would very much lay down her life for her friends. She is unrefined, and self-determined. She doesn’t particularly care about what others think of her. She takes critique and self-doubt head on, and only allows it to make her more determined. She is bubbly, and wild, wanting to be free and not cooped up.
As she grew up, and became an adult, she began to want to fight for others. She has never been one to sit aside and let others get hurt. Those traits became even more apparent when she became a mother. She is a protective person by nature, and there is nothing that she wouldn’t do for her children or husband.
Alice grew up in a very pureblood elite family. Her family really thought that they were on the stop. And in terms of the pureblood world the Rosier’s were on top. But the thing was…. Alice really did not like this or felt like she belonged at all.
Alice didn’t really fit in with the other pureblood girls, or what society really thought a pureblood lady should be. She knew from a young age that she was different from the others, that she didn’t quite fit in. Whilst the other pure-blooded girls her age liked to sit and drink tea, paint, and sew, Alice much preferred to be in the garden, or to be flying. Although she knew this, it didn’t make her feel insecure at all. Alice was happy with who she was and wasn’t going to let someone’s ideas of who or what she should be change her.
From an educational point of view Alice wasn’t academic in the slightest, and didn’t really know what she wanted to do with her life. She got through classes, studied hard, because she wanted to get good grades. She didn’t want to risk flunking any classes just in case they came in useful in the future. Alice was sorted into Gryffindor, and that house like a second home for Alice, and she couldn’t imagine being anywhere else. Of course, that caused problems with her family. She was the first that wasn’t in Slytherin. That kind of signaled the beginning of the end for her and her family.
Whilst Alice isn’t that academic, she is pretty talented when it comes to flying. To be honest, pretty talented is a bit of an understatement. Alice had a natural talent for flying, and for quidditch. She might be small, but she is mighty, and pretty lethal with that beaters bat. Flying for the Gryffindor quidditch team is amazing, and Alice adores it. There is nothing quite like the thrill of flying.
It was a sunny day in the middle of fifth year when the aurors came to visit. It was a career informing class, and the class left an impact on Alice. She’d not considered being an auror before, but she fell in love with the career that day. The two aurors that came were awe-inspiring, and Alice left that class with only one goal in life; to become an auror.
The day that she left Hogwarts was the day she left her family. Not only did she disagree with their viewpoint, but she also did not want to marry the man they had betrothed her too. She didn’t like Rabastan. And she was not going to become a Lestrange. So she left, and was officially disowned. She didn’t care about that though, and make her way on to join the auror program.
Of course people had their doubts. They asked how this bubbly and reckless girl could ever make it as an auror. They doubted her abilities, and her skills, even though she had proved that she was capable of getting onto the hard program. This didn’t put a dent in her confidence though, it only made Alice push herself harder. Those three years that she trained as an auror were hard, but she made it. Sure, she hardly went out, and was definitely work focused, but she was determined to be successful. People still talked. They doubted her still, and they warned her that she should stick to the pureblood traditions. That she should get married, and have babies, and stay at home. Alice detested the mere thought of this, and it just continued to push her on towards qualifying.
Alice cried the day she qualified as an auror. She cried for all her hard work. She cried because she’d proved everyone wrong. She cried because she’d finally gotten her dream. All of her hard work had finally paid off. Of course, the hard work was only going to continue, but she’d done it. And finally everyone that doubted her was quiet.
All along, from that decision to become an auror, through all the doubters, and the late night studying, Frank Longbottom had been there. She wasn’t sure when she fell in love with him, but all Alice knows that she is irrevocably in love with him. He is her other half, her soul mate, and she simply cannot imagine life without him. She knows that she wouldn’t have gotten through the auror program without him, and she thanks her lucky stars every day that he is hers.
Things had been going pretty well for Alice. She’d qualified as an auror. She’s got Frank. But then the world around her is in war, and Alice has to fight. This means fighting against the family that disowned her. But Alice has never been one for sitting around. And so she fights. Joining the Order was a simple decision, and it made her feel like she was finally doing something good in this world.
But then she finds out she’s pregnant. And her whole world changes. Suddenly it’s about more than just her and Frank. Having a baby in the middle of the war wasn’t planned, but Alice couldn’t be happier. Being a mother was such a lovely thing, and if anything it made her feel in love with Frank even more. One baby slowly turned into three, and it was hard to juggle it all during the war. But Alice was happier than she could ever remember being.
No time like the present:
One would have thought they were safe after the war. They should have been safe. They were on the winning side. But Alice hadn’t thought to consider the wrath of her cousins. She’d technically betrayed both the Lestranges and the Blacks. So, it should have some as no surprise that Bellatrix and her husband came to attack. They’d lightened up on security, and its something that Alice regrets to this day.
She didn’t care about herself. She’d have laid down her life for her children. But she just didn’t want them getting hurt. She was brave, trying to be strong for her children. She can’t quite remember what happened. Only that if it hadn’t been for little Neville alerting his grandmother, then they’d probably have all died. But he was brave, and he proved how amazing he was. And she’ll be thankful for that decision to become a family all those years ago when she’d first found out she was pregnant.
Alice is struggling with everything now though. The trauma of being attacked in her own home too much. Alice adored being an auror, but she knew her place was in the home now. She couldn’t protect them there, so what use was she going else where right now. So she resigned from her position, just as her husband was being promoted. People were shocked, but Alice was content to just be at home with her babies right now.
Sometimes she wished it had ended different. Some times she can’t remember things, but Alice is just thankful that they are all safe, and their attackers are locked up in Azkaban. They technically might be her family, but as far as she is concerned, they can rot.
Rita Skeeter - There was no way of not knowing just how annoyed Alice was at the Daily Prophet’s coverage of the attacks on their family. Things seemed blown out of proportion and Alice made a point to tell Rita the article wasn’t appreciated, only to be met with a shrug and “that’s the way the paper works,” as an answer.
Severus Snape - While the Order members around Severus’ age were standoffish toward their joining the cause, Alice tried to be welcoming. It began with minimal conversation and brought on the discovery that there was more to Severus than the spiky exterior they tended to rely on.
Rabastan Lestrange - The two were betrothed for a time but Alice’s interests lay elsewhere — or more specifically, in someone else. Neither was happy with the betrothal since it was set before they went to school but that didn’t make Alice’s willing to settle for Frank instead any less shocking. The betrothal being broken for someone that ended up being a blood traitor is still a sore point for the Lestrange family.
