The original outside of Olney, Illinois is only separated by 20 miles from the "current" 1950 Center located near Louisville, Illinois. Fortunately, John Snider, whose family bought their farm in the 1940s and who continues to grow corn and soybeans, has an entire archive of press clippings, dedication programs, photographs, and a Life Magazine whose cover has Zsa Zsa Gabor on it related to the original 1950 Center. However, before the 1960 Census, the method of computing the Center was changed and all of the Centers since then have been determined using this new formula. Unfortunately, the owners of the farm land where the 1950 Center now resides had no idea of this unique fact until I called them last month and visited them this afternoon.
