Sailor Stars Episode 190 Concept Script and Storyboard Part 1

It took me so long to start posting these since I needed to figure out how I wanted to post it and finally decided to have the script and storyboard split among multiple posts.

Cast page. It lists Usagi first as usual but then it lists Haruka, Setsuna, and Michiru. Normally the Inners are listed next, I'm guessing it is because they had a smaller role in this episode. Next are Yaten, Taiki, and Seiya... Seiya does not have Sailor Star Fighter listed under his name, he did not transform this episode. Rei and Ami are listed at the end.

Makoto and Minako are the first names listed followed my Luna. Sailor Lead Crow and Suzu Nynako (Tin Nyanko not transformed) along with the phage of the day.

Page 1 starts with clearly laying out the background of the moon appearing between the clouds and a few of buildings from a rooftop. Yaten wants to know why they are here to Haruka, Michiru, and Setsuna. They become the Outers when the light is hidden by the clouds. Neptune comments they don't look surprised. Taiki anticipated this. Clouds block the light again and Healer and Maker are standing. Neptune and Pluto talk about protecting the planet and it is their mission.

Opening scene for the episode! Directions to pan out on the city skyline. Notes to the right of the art are lines, camera direction, mood of the scene to my best understanding.

The time column has numbers on every page. I'm not sure what it has to do other then marking which point in the episode. Learned so much about production from this script!

The pyramid I think has something to do with color or brightness. More note about the mood of the scene, when the brightness changes and character lines.

Notes about light/contrast.

Most of the conversation is on Page 2 in the concept script in the following post. I tried to match this up as much as possible.

Uranus doing what she does best, threatening the Starlights and telling them to stay away from Sailor Moon. Maker saying she will use Sailor Moon if it is to her advantage. She sure can be cold when she needs to be! But I think part of this was just to piss off Uranus.

But I am not complaining!!!! Concept script for episode 190 and..... the storyboard!!!!

There will be multiple posts on this in the future later this year. So much to unpack between the concept script, the storyboard and then changes from the storyboard to the final production.

Sailor Moon S Episode 94 Concept Script

Found a few more scripts!

Episode 94 features Unazuki and her first kiss. Just about everyone remembers their first kiss! Except Usagi... I don't think she remembers her first kiss with Mamoru in this life time she was drunk and passed out.

Tentative title and final title are the same! This is rare! Title is "Protect the Pure-Heart: The Three-Way Battle" 

Back side remains the same as previous scripts for Sailor Moon S.

Page 1. Scene change!! The episode was written to start in front of Rei's family shrine with Usagi thinking she doesn't want to study at Rei's.

In the anime, Luna is here. Usagi tells Luna she doesn't want to study and of course Luna scolds her. Usagi abandons the thought of studying when she sees Mamoru on his motorcycle. Usagi pauses when she sees another girl on his bike.

In the script, Mamoru calls out to Usagi, meaning Usagi didn't realize Mamoru was there until he called her. Usagi is surprised to see a girl on the bike with him.

The rest of this scene is the same, minus we learn in the script Motoko was going to Hokkaido.

Can we talk about how Usagi is immediately insecure here seeing someone with Mamoru on his bike??? Pretty sure Usagi was scarred by the break in R and is worried Mamoru will just dump her again. (Go for it Mamoru, Usagi deserves better anyway)

Page 2. Usagi really over compensates for the insecurity she felt moments ago complementing Mamoru how he looks in his outfit. Was she in shock he didn't have a green jacket to go with the outfit?

Scene about Unazuki asking Usagi if she and Mamoru ever kissed is roughly the same.

Page 3. Unazuki assumes Usagi has not kissed Mamoru based on her reaction and even states that since she is middle school student it how be bad.

Soo.... even Unazuki thought Mamoru was a bit old for Usagi. (Haaa! Something I threw into Chaos Theory and turns out it is cannon!!!)

Rest of the scene is the same.

Page 12. Unazuki has her pure heart crystal stolen and as a result she tries to kiss Usagi and Ami.

Page 13. Usagi thinks Unazuki's behavior is strange. Girls realize Unazuki's pure heart crystal was stolen. Unazuki runs off and tries to kiss anyone nearby. She was not in her apartment when this happened. Location change!

Page 19. Sailor Moon is determined to get Unazuki's pure heart kissed back and talks about how a girls dream of their first kiss. Battle starts.

Page 22. Neptune and Tuxedo Kamen fight, Uranus and Sailor Moon fight for the talisman. Sailor Moon tries to reason with Uranus that Unazuki will die if doesn't get her crystal back. Uranus is focused om on the mission.

Page 23. Neptune and Uranus tell Sailor Moon it is their mission and knock the pure heart crystal away from her. Tuxedo Kamen calls Sailor Moon's name. Neptune realizes the pure heart crystal is not a talisman. Sailor Moon gets the crystal back from Neptune.

Mamoru still plays dumb like he doesn't remember their first kiss at the end... welll... probably because Usagi was passed out and drunk, so he doesn't want to tell her.

Sailor Moon R Episode 82 Concept Script

Instead of writing out Sailor it was abbreviated to "S" which is very common throughout these scripts. Tentative title was " S Senshi to the Future! The rap of the Space Time Corridor".

Not too much of a change.

"Journey to the Future: Battle in the Space-Time Corridor"

No actress casted as Sailor Pluto when the script was written.

Page 4. Tuxedo Kamen and Chibi Usa are the last to show up to the park to travel to the future. Why did Chibi Usa run off with Tuxedo Kamen? Why didn't she just arrive with Usagi? What errands did she have to run?

Chibi Usa uses the time key and they all go to the future.

Page 6. Chibi Usa runs ahead and see Puu, who is later relieved to be Sailor Pluto. When the fog clears, Sailor Moon recognizes her.

Page 7. Chibi Usa apologizes for breaking her promise and brining other people to the Time Corridor but she wanted to save her mother. Pluto ends up hugging Chibi Usa saying she is proud of her for learning how to use the time key. Pluto comments that Chibi Usa and Sailor Moon always cause her trouble and Sailor Moon doesn't understand.

Page 8. Sailor Pluto warns Sailor Moon not to let go of Chibi Usa's hand. I find it interesting Sailor Mercury asks Sailor Pluto if she can come with them but Sailor Pluto says she can't leave here. How do you account for the S and Stars season? Are they multiple Plutos too in different times? The group says goodbye to Sailor Pluto and leave. Luna comments she heard about Sailor Pluto from Queen Serenity.

Page 9. Luna continues talking how Sailor Pluto is lone warrior. Venus comments how she looked sad. Tuxedo Kamen tells everyone they need to head inside. Text block of what they see and the wind/vortex that hits them.

Page 12. Chibi Usa is struggling with the wind. Jupiter comments how strong it is. Sailor Moon says she can't take much more of it. So naturally Tuxedo Kamen tells her to pull herself together. That doesn't come across as very encouraging.

Page 13. OMG I AM SO GLAD THEY CHANGED THIS.

In the 90s anime, Chibi Usa questions if Sailor Moon will be able to help her mother because she is struggling so much from the wind. She started to let go of Sailor Moon's hand but then thinks no, she has to trust Sailor Moon to save her mother.

The dialogue in the script.... Chibi Usa thinks if she lets go of Sailor Moon's hand, Usagi will disappear and she can have Mamoru by her side. Mamoru is hers. She snaps out of it realizes she has to rely on Sailor Moon.

Esmeraude appears and separates everyone.

Page 20. Sailor Moon survives the labyrinth and and tells the enemy she is going to defeat them. The villain attacks, the other senshi attack.

Page 22. The senshi continue to struggle against the enemy. Sailor Moon called Sailor Jupiter... Jupiter-chan?

After battling for a while Mercury figures out a way to defeat the enemy. They decide to try using Sailor Planet Attack to defeat the enemy.

Page 23. They need a distraction to get him to use his power. Chibi Usa is useful as acts as a decoy. She runs off before anyone can stop her. Tuxedo Kamen help by protecting Chibi Usa.

Sailor Stars Episode 190 Concept Script and Storyboard Part 14

Page 29. Pluto tells Uranus the Phage is coming. Uranus attacks with her talisman and cuts the balloon in half and it explodes. Pluto tells Sailor Moon to attack.

Sailor Moon's new attack phrase is missing!!!! It doesn't say Silver Moon Crystal Power Kiss. Script only makes a reference to use the new attack here. Sailor Amuse returns to normal. Scene switches to the Outers, Three Lights, and Usagi.

Side note with Sailor Pluto. Her dialogue whenever she speaks is so polite and respectful by Japanese standards.

Pluto turns to Uranus to tell her the Phage is coming. Uranus uses her Space Sword Blaster attack. Notice that the attack is written out here.

Lots of directions on the how the attack looks, hits the balloon and Sailor Amuse's confused expression.

Pluto tells Sailor Moon to attack now. Now Printing panels would be the stock footage for the new attack that they don't know what it is yet... only the word Moon is listed to the side. Sailor Amuse reverting back to his normal self.

Notes about the starseed returning. Back to Megapolis. Directions on on how the characters look. Seiya is supported on each side by Yaten and Taiki. Setsuna is mad Seiya promised not to see Usagi again. Yaten defends him saying Usagi came here to see Seiya.

I had to double check this. I thought this line belonged to Haruka.

So.... is Setsuna also so angry at Seiya because he is a threat to the timeline of Crystal Tokyo?

Yaten is still angry at Usagi.

Page 30. Gif above, Setsuna and Yaten exchange. Didn't quite match up the with the storyboard. Haruka says they will protect the planet themselves. Taiki agrees with this plan. They leave but Seiya wants to talk to Usagi and thanks her for coming today. Usagi calls his name and wants to run toward him but Haruka stop hers. Usagi watches after this with a sad face.

Usagi tries to explain but Haruka ignores her and keep talking she will protect the planet. Taiki tells them to go ahead in a cold tone. The arrows show the movement of them turning. Seiya is shown to turn back. Usagi's expression is so sad.

Usagi is still refusing to give up seeing Seiya and look how Michiru, Setsuna, and Haruka don't even look at Usagi, ignoring their Princess' wishes.

There they trying to separate them again.

Seiya has to say something to her. Is that worried expressions on Taiki and Yaten's faces?

Usagi wants to much to rush over to him. They got a change to talk after Seiya's performance.

Seiya with a smile, thanks Usagi for coming. She called his name and tries to move toward but realizes someone grabbed her arm. Lots of movement lines for Usagi.

Usagi calls his name, look at the change in her expression when she realizes her arm was grabbed.

Look at how Usagi's body language changes when she realizes she can't run after Seiya. Michiru and Setsuna are still in the exact same position. Yup, animation cutting corners.

Usagi can only watch them as they walk away. She looks like she is about to cry.

Part B of the episode is over and adding times up to the correct length for the second half of the episode.

Sailor Stars Episode 190 Concept Script and Storyboard Part 2

Page 2. Continuation of confrontation between Neptune, Uranus, Pluto, Maker, and Healer. Tempers flare and Seiya appears, staggering forward to try to get them to top. Healer yells at Seiya he needs to rest. Seiya says he won't see Sailor Moon/Tsukino Usagi again.

HA!!!!! We know that is a lie. He can never stay away from her. Also want to note this the only time we hear Seiya use Usagi's actual name and note, there are no honorifics here either. Outside of Usagi's family (includes Chibi Usa), Naru, Rei, Michiru, and Seiya are the only ones that I can think of that do not use honorifics for her name.

Uranus yells at the Starlights they don't realize the position they are in. Maker counters back essentially along the lines of right back at you.

Outers and Starlights are ready to fight when someone with shakily knees in red appears shouting at them to stop.

Look at Seiya the peace keeper knowing how bad this would be if they all seriously fought each other. Wise man.

Seiya struggles with moving forward telling them this meaningless.

Maker and Healer immediately run over to Seiya. Healer tells Seiya he should be resting.

The Outers stare down the Starlights with Seiya. I swear the glare is even worse here now that Seiya is present.

Seiya look at the Outers claiming he will not see Sailor Moon/Tsukino Usagi again.

I bet he would had say anything to stop them from fighting. He knows he can't stay away from her.

This is not in the storyboard.

Expanded seen in the classroom with Makoto and Minako in English class passing notes to each other noting that everyone (implies Three Lights) are missing. Minako's note has a doodle of herself.

Page 4. Minako notes Yaten's empty seat next to her, this is in the episode. Usagi has a flashback of Seiya getting hurt to protect her. She recalls Seiya got hurt because of her and hopes he is okay.

Minako sees how down Usagi is and wants to cheer her up.

High School scene with Minako noticing the empty seats the Three Lights sat. Emphasize on the empty seat behind Usagi and how miserable Usagi looks. Poor Usagi.

Effect has something to do with writing... in the episode we hear sounds of writing on the chalkboard.

Usagi thinks back to Seiya saving her.

I wonder if these are just copied from the storyboard of the previous episode?

What is up with Seiya's hair in the top picture? The notes are regarding slowing down the moment Seiya is injured.... maybe that is why the hair looks strange.

Not sure what the red circle is for... maybe emphasis on Sailor Moon running forward to help Seiya? Sailor Moon panicking that Seiya is injured and says to pull himself together. A very typical phrase.

Usagi is very worried about Seiya and if he was okay.

Afterall the last time she saw him he was unconscious and carried off by Maker.

Minako is really worried about Usagi and has a determined look.

There is no storyboard page 10. No idea.

Sailor Moon Mystery Script Part 2

After a lot more digging on-line yesterday... I thought this might be the concept script for a Sailor Moon Special entitled, "The Wonderful World of Sailor Moon S."

However, the more I dug into it, the special might have been very loosely based off of this and any new animation was scraped.

Looks like this will continue to be mystery!

Continuation of Episode 7, cram school teacher discovers Ami is no longer brainwashed. Ami transforms into Mercury.

Episode 55. Rei sings on stage for the school festival. Chibi Usa says Rei has a good voice.

Mars attacks the enemy.

Back to the two girls, we know learn are in Harajuku based on the kanji at the start of the scene. They wonder which senshi is the strongest.

Episode 25. Usagi bumps into the group of guys and is saved by Makoto. Usagi comments she falls in love easily.

Usagi talks about Makoto's bento boxes.

Scene goes to Makoto being attacked, transforming into Sailor Jupiter and attacking.

Back to the cafe, the girls questions who is the most reliable senshi.

Usagi wants them to say her. The first girl says it is Sailor Venus.

Episode 36. Minako goes to Usagi's house and suggests trying a new hair style to cheer her up.

Minako comfort's Usagi and brushes her hair while trying to cheer up Usagi because she is depressed about Mamoru.

Episode 42. Flashback of Minako in London, England trying to capture a villain with her best friend.

There is an explosion and everyone thought that Sailor V died in the warehouse collapse. Katrina and Alan hug and cry. Sailor V realizes they like each other and it is hard for her since she liked Alan.

Sailor Moon and Sailor Venus defeat the enemy. Minako sees Katrina off and lets go of a picture she had of her and Alan.

Back to the cafe the girls talk about someone that think is wonderful. Tuxedo Kamen.

Episode 44 at the Silver Millennium.

Sailor Stars Episode 190 Concept Script and Storyboard Part 5

Page 10. Usagi asks the Outers if they seen Seiya. Haruka essentially says yes. Usagi wants to know what they said to Seiya. Haruka doesn't want her to see or talk to Seiya. Usagi becomes upset that they are deciding things on their own. Usagi realized how worked up she got and apologizes. Haruka reminds Usagi that are not from this solar system. Usagi argues but they are senshi. Setsuna points out the enemy are also senshi.

Usagi jumps up to run over to Haruka, Michiru, and Setsuna. She wants to know what they said to Seiya. You can see how how angry she is starting to become.

I love the emphasis here on Usagi's hand shaking. Is the angriest we have ever seen her in the entire series? Definitely this season. Has she snapped at any of the senshi like this before? I don't think Usagi was even this angry when Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto tried to kill Hotaru before she could become Sailor Saturn.

Usagi yell at them not to decide things. I think even Setsuna, Michiru, and Haruka are shocked by Usagi's outburst.

Usagi realizes how much she was yelling at them and apologized. Usagi thinks everyone can get along because they are senshi. Setsuna points out the enemy are senshi too.

Page 11. Michiru reminds Usagi it is a battle between senshi and they have to be careful. Haruka wants to protect the planet on their own.

Setsuna asks Usagi to understand. (Didn't Setsuna know the Starlights were not enemies??? Was she just afraid of how close Seiya and Usagi were wondering if this was the time Usagi picked him?).

Usagi believes Seiya is different and has tears her eyes. She runs off.

Luna calls after her and runs off. All of the others look after Usagi worried.

Usagi is about to cry saying Seiya is different and she runs off. It looks like the scene was slightly altered with a different version on the next page.

Usagi runs right past the Outers and they don't try to stop her. Luna is very worried and calls out after her and immediately starts following her. Everyone looks worried.
