But actually, Finrod/Mae … it’s a good ship.
And I bet it would be WAY more popular than it is, if it wouldn’t directly collide with the biggest ship in the fandom.

Well .. this sat in my askbox since before xmas and actually I intended to answer it in my holidays but then I didn’t have proper internet access there
Truth to be told I don’t have any thoughts on them in the sense of ship-related things (I do have many thoughts about the dysfunctional family, yes) nor do I ship them, which is for two reasons:
A) I hc that Elros cannot stand Maedhros, a lot worse than Elrond. Over the time they learn to get along somehow, but it’s by no means a good relationship. So all I could possibly see is some sort of hate ship, but that isn’t working either, because:
B) After everything that happened to Maedhros in Angband, things I have read in fics (side-eyes markedasinfernal) and things I have thought of myself, Maedhros’s interests in anything sexual are very little to non-existent.
It may work (again) in established relationships with lots of trust after some time; it may work with somebody whom he dearly trusts; somebody who knows him well, knows all his flaws - but Elros isn’t that person, at least for me.
