Plot: Two weeks after the conclave, Vincent’s anxious feelings about his election come to a crippling head.

PREVIEW:

The brutality of war, where such sacred objects hold the impermanence of a speck of dirt, will never leave his body. He flinches at every loud noise and sudden movement, and with each waking minute, he can only think of the flock he left behind because for some reason, the people here believed in him.

He wants nothing more than to go back. He wants nothing more than to leave this restrictive post—this prison—and return to what he once knew. Worse yet, he wants this to the point of wondering if he should have declined the papacy. Yes, it would have been sinful—an act of selfish cowardice—but isn’t leaving innocents to die even more of a sin?
