Trigger warning: possible intense head injury
Neuroscientist Chris Nowinski said he wants the NFL to investigate the apparent head injury suffered by Bills QB Josh Allen during Sunday’s loss to the Texans. Bills HC Sean McDermott told reporters on Monday that Allen “was cleared and he went back in the game” after being examined by medical staff for concussion and chest and ankle injuries.
As angry as I am at Spurs medical staff, that concussion protocols were enacted and Vertonghen passed them in order to come back in the pitch proves how much these protocols need to change.
These were two days apart. Both of these players were allowed back on the pitch.
Jan Vertonghen could have died today. We need independent doctors to assess injuries and allow teams to have a fourth sub for head injuries. I don’t care if some teams exploit this and fake head injuries to use the fourth sub. I literally don’t care. It is worth it to protect the players.
Concussion protocol is always so interesting to read about, I don’t know why. It makes sense that the Batch would have experince with it though. From Chapter 1 of downpour
Echo made himself dump the cold onions and garlic into a container. Waste not, want not. He doubted any of them felt like eating, but Hunter and Omega especially needed the calories. He was about to start pulling out the fixings for sandwiches when the front door clanged open for Wrecker. He came crashing inside, balancing two pizza boxes from the five-dollar carryout place in town. “Made the rideshare guy swing by the pizza place,” he explained, dropping the boxes onto the kitchen table. No one jumped for them. He rubbed at the back of his head with one big hand. “Figured we oughta eat something…” the tired silence rankled him. “So, uh,” he said, “normal concussion routine, yeah?” “I can keep an eye on him,” Crosshair said. “Hourly wakeups?” “Yeah,” Hunter croaked. Sitting in the kitchen chair, he frowned at the pizza boxes. His hand reached out and fumbled with one, Tech stilling his hand and flipping it up for him. “Little dizzy. Doc said it’s normal.” He folded up a slice and started to methodically feed it into his mouth, working on pure instinct.

Does Liga f have concussion protocols in game? I thought if there is any head contact they are supposed to do check/come off until they are cleared.
of course, there are medical protocols to follow at a league and regional level. la liga and the players' association (AFE) made a huge campaign a few years ago to talk about it.
but you need the ref to stop play and the medical staff to actually address it.
just this weekend there was a dangerous incident at the real betis v. granada match and one of the players posted about it on social media. yes, liga f can launch a campaign to respect the refs, but how about the refs respect the norms and safety of the players 😤
yes, the level of reffing across the board is so bad. it's one thing to have missed calls but when ref actions affect the health and safety of the players, that's completely unacceptable. 🙃
