12 by 30: My New Year's Resolution
I feel like I've been stuck in a rut for a long time. I've tried doing a lot of things to help myself. Every time I can't start or I can't follow through on things I wanna do. Or at least, think I wanna do.
So I'm gonna try something new.
A while ago, I heard a TED Talk (TEDx Talk?) on someone who said they've been doing 30 day challenges for a while, and it's a great way to get a new perspective on things. So I'm gonna try that. But I have no confidence I'll be able to get things done that are massive, like writing a book, or learning a new skill.
So what I'm going to do is this:
My New Year's Resolution is to complete 12 separate 30 day challenges, in a process I'm calling 12 by 30. This is to build my confidence and ensure me that I can do things I've been wanting to do. But I'm not going to burden myself by doing monumental things. Instead I'm going to do things that don't require a great deal of effort to do normally.
For example: January, I'm making sure I make a post on Tumblr every day. That's it. And I mean, certain conditions apply (such as reblogs don't count, and the post must be original and not recreated from someone else identically) but it's pretty easy.
Other ideas involve doing a drawing every day (note I'm not an artist so I wouldn't put much effort into most of the drawings) and making sure I take my medicine every prescribed time (currently day and night) or even just opening a game I haven't played yet on Steam (because you KNOW there's a ton of games I haven't put a minute into and bought them only because they were on sale).
But that's my idea. I wonder if I need to formalize some rules. But if I do that can be a post for another day.
So, I guess, wish me luck.
