They’re in a rush planning the big day, while also getting to know each other for the very first time ever. Its a mess!! EX-WIFE; will do a real request for her but yes, will is divorced and his ex-wife plagues him to this day. they were married for thirteen years with no children, never moving out of the house they first moved into together and with will making no moves to progress at work beyond becoming a detective - none of which was what his ex-wife thought their life together would be like. he likes his job as it is and spent what was admittedly an unhealthy amount of time there. it drove a wedge between them and it ended in a messy divorce that he honestly didn’t see coming and he hasn’t really quite gotten over yet, either.
COLLEAGUES; will’s been a part of the p.d. at columbus for so long he’s basically a part of the furniture. he’s very much that gruff cop everyone’s a little bit scared of because he’s Seen Some Shit. kind of old school and grumbles about the tech he doesn’t understand all the damn time. he spends way too much time at work tbh and it’s only gotten worse with the recently finalised divorce. he probably knows pretty much everyone at work at this point since he basically lives there, so give him fellow cops and detectives pls!
DRINKING BUDDIES; if will isn’t at work he’s at his favourite dive bar can you tell i love dive bars so he probably has a collection of people he sees there regularly. they’re friends in the sense that they’ll sit in silence, drink shitty whiskey together and occasionally converse in grunts and raised eyebrows. no, but really, they’re not exactly the kind of people he’s spilling his guts to. it’s just company is better than drinking alone, right? probably have basic conversations and complain over sports together, that kind of stuff.

she may not have been friends with his wife, but they at least knew each other -- having lived on the same street, it was impossible not to. her first husband, truthfully, was a piece of shit; what level of that is up to you (i do get rita from dexter vibes from her though!!!) and she had two kids by him before he was carted off to jail for one thing or another. most of her life was spent alone with the kids, raising them while he was in and out of jail. in 1991/early 92, he was carted off to prison on a Big Charge, something that landed him with his lengthiest sentence yet (think 10+ years). the two of them became close in fall of 92, married in fall of 93, and he adopted the two kids she already had as his own for christmas in 93. like i said in his lil quick bio, they decided not to have any more kids and when she went for the procedure, found out she was pregnant with twins. they have more than a full house but honestly dex wouldn’t have it any other way.
her occupation is up to you, and i honestly am fine with whatever for that, though i picture it as being something more her passion (like owning a shop or something!!! omg pls have her own a bakery!!!!)... same on up to you if she’s got siblings or if she’s from meridian or what!! tbh i want to build up a whole life together with them, because i’m a sucker for headcanons. the two are 100% devoted to each other and the #1 thing i wanna say is that there’s no cheating -- they both had their own initial qualms about getting together because of their situations, but when they realized how they both felt, they went for it.
