[170319] Gag Concert’s Naver Post update (10/10)
Shiniinsoo here. The historian in "1 vs. 1" is based off real-life (celebrity?) historian who's also named Seol Min-seok, who does kinda resemble Lee Chang-ho (FYI: the clan Gyeongju Seol's founder is an Uyghur who was accepted into Goryeo society during King Gongmin; his ancestors lived by Selenga River in Mongolia). I think GagCon removed "Confusing/ Atomic News" since recent events.
Yep. It created a bit of a buzz, and now half the characters on 1 vs. 1 are parodies…
That’s quite an interesting piece of history, especially when Seol is not a common surname.
I don’t think they did. Just yesterday in the latest GagCon episode, they parodied the BBC reporter’s Korean wife and family incident.
[170302] The anchors of ‘Confusing News’, Jang Ki Young and Son Byuli, made it to KBS ‘Morning News Time’ to report about real North Korean news
I have placed a large bomb in a fighting arena, where the strongest Korean men gather. That bomb is me! // requested by Shiniinsoo
Shiniinsoo here. Part 1. Actually "Confusing News" is kinda hypocritical because in North Korea they don't use neologisms like "늬우스" as part of their "language cleansing" (e.g. juice is "sweet water"). Me and my sister were dying of laughter at Ri Jom-rye earlier. Can you screenshot that moment where Lee Hyun-jung was wiggling while the prop by the band (pink bear(?)) was giving her the stinkeye LOL.
Shiniinsoo part 2. Candles are scary towards the pro-Park people like Hwang Kyo-ahn. Another SS: SAMSUNG. The government textbook controversy is what to call 15 August 1948. LOL is that Kim Min-hee’s little brother. Is that a pig-rabbit from “You’re Beautiful”? XD
That is true. Could be describing the pronunciation.
Will GIF it. I hope I got the right episode? Because I don’t really get what you mean
The candle reference though… Amazing, hahaha.
I was wondering why they didn’t mention Samsung but then I think it’s kind of like a brand that would already come to mind when a Korean hears “SS”.
I like how Kim Dae Sung decides that “we’ll leave everything important about Korean history out and just keep the mythical parts”
I didn’t manage to find out about ‘Kim Do Hee’…
Nah, I’m pretty sure that’s a regular rabbit plushie
Shiniinsoo here. Did you get all my earlier asks??? At "Is This For Real?" music at Yang Sun-il is the controversial opening song "Round and Round" of Goblin. The Grim Reaper troupe was Goblin looking like Park Sung-ho's Grim Reaper. "Ri Jeom-rye"'s music is the USSR anthem. The thing with Aoji is that NoKor athletes that failed KJU were sent to Aoji (North Hamgyong Province) coal mines.
Ah I saw that in the comments section too. But I watched Goblin so I knew the song, just didn’t update BGM page.
I found out about that BGM as I checked on Namuwiki! Thanks though.
Woah. That’s extreme...
Shiniinsoo here. Read "대통형" was possible because (the hated) Jo Jun-hee PD left GagCon. "Confusing News" might be also called "Atomic News" since the first syllable of 햇갈린 (confusing) has been replaced with 핵, which is by-word for "nuclear". Opening & ending theme is the intro part of "조선의 힘" (youtube hBgfu4NLn54) which is KCTV's opening signal. There is another but let's wait... "부담거래"'s title is a play on the 2010 crime film "The Unjust" (부당거래). "Look Again"'s theme is I.O.I's "너무너무너무".
Sorry for the late replies, and yes I did receive your asks! I was just completely swamped up with submissions for the past week so I didn’t answer them. It’s my last week of school now and I’ll be a free soul starting this Thursday so please look forward to more posts :) I’ll also try to GIF...
Yes, that is true. Minsang Debate 2 became Young President right after Jo Joon Hee PD left.
Ah, I didn’t realise that and thought it was the legit spelling...!
I’ve been looking everywhere for this BGM! Thank you. I do know the other BGMs like the commercial break ones are mostly parodies of radio commercials for Gukju endorsed bed/Eduwin hagwon (I happen to listen to MBC sometimes).
Oh, I had no idea, learnt something new today.
I kept putting off updating the BGM list and another anon already told me, so thank you both :)
@jungjoonjiyong replied to your post “It was Kim HyunKi's birthday the other day. I'm glad he still is on...”
By the way, I don't know if you remember my other reply, but Gag Concert suddenly got way better! I love that new skit about North Korea, the new debate skit, ... They are really going strong on the political jokes, aren't they?
I would say the North Korean one (called ‘Confusing News’) is less politically focused than the other skits - there is 1 more coming up, hold on tight!
I think it’s a good chance for GagCon seeing that there is a lot going on in politics now.
