I'm writing a thing about a Viking girl gang cuz screw male centric fantasy and so there are trans and queer characters and there are poc characters and disabled characters and they wander their world sampling local cuisine and fighting bigots and they all have magic and fighting skills based on their cultural traditions and there is a polyamorous relationship and queer platonic people's and trans black lesbians and your blog is so nice 🤗

Sirius and remus both having nightmares (sirius from family stuff) (remus from werewolfing out once a month) and waking up at the same time and comforting each other etc

i’m putting half of this under read more bc i got carried away again

they’d been having nightmares individually since before they even got to hogwarts

it was just that that specific day in third year it was at the same time

sirius gasped awake and shot up in his bed

he’d been sweating again, and his shirt clung to his back

in between deep lungfuls of air he noticed something across the darkened dorm room

remus kept kicking in his bed. he was thrashing quietly, but thrashing nonetheless

and his mouth was moving but sirius was too far away to hear the mumbles spilling out of it

he didn’t plan to investigate until he saw remus’s chest begin to quiver

it looked like he was crying

sirius slipped out of his bed and padded across the room, careful not to wake either james or peter

when he made it to remus’s bedside, he noticed the tears streaming down remus’s cheeks and onto his pillow

but he was asleep. remus wasn’t awake. he was crying while sleeping

sirius reached out and brushed some of remus’s curls out of his forehead 

it was when sirius had grazed remus’s hands with his own, as if to comfort him while he lay asleep, that remus finally woke

they didn’t share any words to know what had happened. remus only scooted further back into the bed and pulled the sheets back to let sirius in

“was it a nightmare, moons?” sirius whispered. he was encompassed with remus’s smell all around him. it swarmed around him like a wave of bees. he was transfixed

“I thought i had hurt you. and pete. and james. I thought-- I thought i killed you all,” remus whimpered. “you were covered in blood, and your eyes were glassy, sirius. you weren’t breathing and i didn’t know what to do and i was helpless”

“i’m still alive, moony. i’m right here.” sirius stretched out his arm again, but this time he pushed the soft side of his wrist towards remus’s fingertips. “see?”

remus pressed his middle finger onto the spot where sirius’s vein thrummed underneath his skin

“i had a nightmare too, you know.”

“you did?”

remus’s fingers had traveled up to the underside of sirius’s elbow. they began to trace patters

“it was my mum. she was being harsher than usual.”

“i’m sorry sirius. i can’t fathom living with someone like that.”

“it’s okay. i have you lot to make up for it all”

remus’s face had begun to dry

sirius closed his eyes

“and for some reason, being here helps”

it apparently helped both of them because when pete tripped on the way to the loo the next morning, they hadn’t even realized they’d fallen asleep
