Good (timezone) sir. I've been quite curious... Do oni marks symbolize rank? What marks determine your social standing and which ones are more decorative? Are your marks permanent or just painted on because I can tell they're... Imperian (distain).

Sadly, my golden ones originate from my extensive time serving as the acting military leader of Imperium. I have...failed to find a way to remove them. However, I can provide some insight on oni markings.
As one might know, the taller and straighter an oni's horns are, the stronger. During times of peace, many oni will decorate their horns with an assortment of jewlery. (In times of peace, the jingling sound of the decorations sort of prove how theres no need to sneak around). Oni social standing is mostly based off horns(strength), as well as age(wisdom), and closeness to the ruler.
Markings on the other hand, are a little different. Oni are usually born with no markings, though on occasion a baby oni will be born with a few lines. (This is considered very lucky, and the child will often be paraded around shortly after its birth). Markings will usually form around 10 years old, and are most commonly found around the eyes, and on the cheeks. Oni gain facial markings with strength, similar to their horns, and markings all around their body. These tend to come with age instead, and its common for oni to pain lines decorativly on their body.
This is the Oni Mask of Hatred(the mask of my predeccesor.). While this is not an accurate representation of her face, note the white markings *on top* of the lighter base. Stronger oni often have, ironically enough, curlier and more detailed markings.
Note the mask with again, more detailed facial markings. The artistic effects of the masks have been drummed up though. And then again, there are anomolies(most commonly found in part-oni).
Example; Lloyd's strange dragoni form. Same with Garmadon's. Even my own son, Percival, has stranger markings than most. Reguardless, I'd be happy to provide any more information you need.
