I really wanna share the conlang work I’m doing, so here’s some audio for sentences I translated that friends gave me on Facebook! (click on the sentence to hear)

I’m TOTALLY reposting this from Facebook, but I’m participating in Lexember, which is when conlangers create a new word for their conlang every day in December and post it to social media. Here is my belated entry for 12/1:

On the first day of Lexember, my conlanger gave to me...

A belated first word of the month! Today's (yesterday's) Fenya word of the day:

['lirɸi] "dragon"

Although the Dreygav (Draconic) word for "dragon" [drek] is sometimes borrowed as ['dureka], the traditional and still widely used term ['lirɸi] comes from a blend of the Fenya words for "snake" [lirbe] and "sky" [beɸi].

This word appears in one of Fenya's idioms, ['ono:m a͡j'lirɸi], translated literally as a "dragon's secret." A dragon's secret is one that is only meant to be kept a secret from a select person or people, but is open knowledge to anyone else. It is said to be a dragon's secret because the Drake (dragons) are known among the other magical societies for being completely open and honest, but only with their own people. For outsiders, most of Drake knowledge is shrouded in deep secrecy.

If I knew how to pronounce your URL, I would. I’ve always said it in my head like it was a portmanteau of ‘syphilis’ and ‘lemon’
