The Conolly Institute for the Performing Arts (CIPA)

THE BASICS

Founded in 1946, the Conolly Institute for the Performing Arts has produced many remarkable performers, boasting one of the most prestigious programs in North America. CIPA offers education in music, dance, and theatre, with specialized programs in the fine arts for students looking to expand their skill sets over their three years of study. All students are required to complete a performance major in addition to an academic minor to graduate.

CIPA boasts beautiful views of the Alberta Rocky Mountain Range, an hour north from scenic Banff. Students will be provided housing for the entirety of the academic year, ranging from September to April.

A COMPREHENSIVE EDUCATION

In addition to maintaining a competitive admission average, CIPA ensures that students receive individual attention from faculty in higher years by employing cuts at the end of each year. Thirty students will be admitted into first year programs, but end-of-year juries determine potential, and only fifteen students are permitted to stay on for their second year. Cuts at the end of second year allow six to eight students to stay on for a third year of study, where they will undergo Conolly’s most challenging courses.

CONOLLY PRODUCTIONS

At the end of each semester, CIPA invites agents around the world to their internationally renowned opera productions. Student performance in these productions determines their performing career after graduation, as scouts frequent Conolly productions looking for new talent. As such, it is imperative that students put their best foot forward and represent CIPA to the best of their abilities.
