so I rewatched Handsome Devil tonight and here are my thoughts (even though nobody asked lol) *SPOILERS
- so first time watching I was unsure if Ned was gay but second time through its impossible that he isn’t at least bi
- When angry about how he gets treated vs. Conor he says that they are essentially the same, implying that like Conor, he likes guys but is treated much worse for it
- Also just the way he looks at him like there is no way you can explain that as heterosexual
- Ok but the scene with Conor and his teacher where he’s trying to convince Conor it gets better but is still struggling with his sexuality and being open himself UUUGGGGHHH
- On an unrelated note I just want to point out how Conor doesn’t smile for most of the movie, but the first time we see him truly smile is in the gay club, where he can temporarily be himself. The only other time in the movie he has that pure look of joy is when he makes the kick at the end, when he’s out and can really, truly, and openly be who he is
- I have no complaints about how the movie ended, I know there are a lot of people who do, but I thought it was a beautiful portrayal of a deep friendship between two young boys who felt like outsiders.
- That being said, they had soooo much chemistry and I could see it being a relationship (and an adorable one at that)
